This regards RB 2011:

I know you can shift a wave track by ctrl+mouse, but is there a way to specify number of millisecs, +/-, and make a more accurate shift ??

When I Drag with crtl+mouse a dialog pops up and it has a time code box you can select from. Not sure where in preferences to change, 1st tab has a check box at bottom that might be it. I have RB 2013 though.

I cut/paste for very minute adjustoments.
Pay attaention to From-Thru
If From-Thru says 3-2-4456 thru 8-3-244 and I want to move it three ticks, I cut it and paste it at 3-2-4459.
This is where resolution becomes important.

If you set your Options-Resoltuion to the max you can often get down to smaller than milliseconds.

60,000 millisends per second
at Tempo 120 there are 500 milliseconds per beat.
At resolution 3920 each tick division is .128 milliseconds per tick
Providing my maths are good.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Seems your math is ok! I would still like a simple way to shift the track some 100mS for effects use, like doubling and shifting one vocal track, for fattening the vocal etc. :-)

I wrote a millisecond to tick convertor app a while back. You are welcome to it.
It ran fine for most people.
http://audiomastering-online.com/stuff/MusicCalc1.zip
Extract and install.

I didn't include converting it the other way, but I could.

You would input the number of milliseconds you wanted and it would tell you the number of ticks to add when you pasted it .. but you'd have to enter the Tempo and Resolution being used in order to calculate the ticks. Might be fun to revisit that program.

I figured people could use it 'as is' to know the delay in Ms to make something echo on the beat (or half beat). Looking at it from the reverse path, I suppose it could be useful too.
Been a while since I programmed anything that wasn't web-based, so it could actually be fun. My goal when I set out was to make a calculator for digital musicians. This may be a good next step for it.

stratocaster inspired me to continue. I present the new and improved MusicCalc2.
Updated to give the number of ticks for a desired number of milliseconds, depending on the tempo and resolution. Also gives the milliseconds per beat for a given tempo.
It's not 50 new features, but hey, it is improved!

http://audiomastering-online.com/stuff/MusicCalc2.zip

Enjoy; can't beat the price.

Save, unzip and run setup. Installs in seconds.

Windows only, may not install on older systems.
Installs to allow creating a desktop/taskbar shortcut and the ability to remove it using Add/Remove Programs.
Source code available upon request.

I removed the old version mentioned in the post above as this new one is only 5k larger in size.

Hi Bob,

I like your latest Calculator which now covers much of the ground we discussed some time ago. I can now abandon my spreadsheet for the majority of calculations.

Thanks
