I'm working my way thru a Blues Improv Video that has me play a chord progression and then improvise a melody over them. I thought that it might be an interesting exercise to have BIAB generate a melody over the chords. However, although I play the chords on my MIDI keyboard, I'm not sure exactly what they are. (I just follow what the instructor is doing on screen in the video).
So - Is there a way to have BIAB identify the chords that I play on the keyboard? I know that the Audio Chord Wizard does this for audio files, but I'm talking about chords that I input on the keyboard. Once identified I could enter them as a chord progression into BIAB manually (if BIAB doesn't do this automatically).
Any help with this would be appreciated.

Yes. Window menu, MIDI Chord Detection. It will give you alternatives when they apply. You can choose the chord and Enter it into the chord sheet.

Yes. Also, if you play a chord, and then press Ctrl enter, the chord gets entered at the current bar. No window needs to be open for that, and you don't have to be holding the chord down, it remembers the last chord that you played.

Wow Peter I never knew that tip.
I gave it a try and there are a few issues: ( at least on my win 7 64 bit machine)
From a cold start it does not work.
Once the MIDI Chord detection window is open and remains open it works (of course)
It works (kinda) after the window is closed. ( it usually just inserts the last recognized chord from when the window is open) IE the same chord you would get from a (Shift+Enter)
I got it to work as you said 1 out of 6 tries/reboots.
(I look for a failure pattern but have not nailed it down yet other than the MIDI Chord detection window has not cached the last played chord when it is reopened )
On a very similar note, I have always wanted (and asked) for a hot key on the MIDI Chord detection window Menu (like Shift +C) to allow a user friendly way to opened it while entering chords. If you are see the same issue as I have seen please consider adding the hot key on the software patch.

Just and update to anyone who had the same issue as me.
BIAB Support is great!
I sent a video of the issue into support and Rob sent back a similar video back and by comparing setting and hardware we figured it out.

I am on Win 7 64 bit. ( looks like you are on something else)

I went through and tried to set all my setting the same as you. ( midi driver setting and thru setting)
I did not think it would be the Axiom but I went ahead and tested my Yamaha S80 ( actually routed through the Axiom External MIDI) ... The Yamaha S80 worked!!
Now to figure out what is causing the issue in the Axiom...
Found it ! it was the zones. If there is more than one zone turned on (i.e. sending two or more MIDI channels it will not work in the Window closed mode. (Strange it works in the detect windows open mode.)

Perhaps the developers can look into why it behaves different in each mode.

I found out why my right CTRL key did not "work." It is a Windows OS thing: I have set up another language keyboard in my PC, and when the keyboard is in a non-English setting Alt and Ctrl do not work.
