There hasn't been much activity on this forum since the new application started up. And the visitors counter has plummeted. It's been 2 or 3 every time I've logged on for the past several days.

Previously, I never saw it below 15-20 and it was near 50 most of the time. Is there a glitch?

Best,
Jim

Hi Jim, yes, I agree there seems to be less interaction. Don't take this as a complaint PGM, it's definitely not, but the new format seems to have everything way more spread out, a lot more 'white space' on the pages.

With the previous layout, I could go straight to the 'Band-in-a-Box for Windows' topic from the Forums page, now I need to load the Forums page, and then scroll down to find it, simply because everything is much more spread out, and it's off the bottom of the display. Surely that could not have distracted users from participating? But I didn't mind the previous layout, it was faster to navigate around in, although there are good features in the new one too.

Regards

VideoTrack

This is common every time a new release of BIAB has settled in. You'll see activity pick up big time with the next release.

I can't get the forums to "remember me" in MS Explorer browser so gave up for a while. Am now using Chrome browser without issues, though not my browser of choice...

Maybe one reason for the few posts is the weather here in the USA. Some of us are busy fighting snowstorms. Unusually weird weather patterns have snow falling in central USA. Up here we are having a very unusual weather pattern of temperatures in the mid 70s F with very low humidity. Everyone around here including me is outside most of the day. Thus little time for music or the Internet.

100 messages in the last 24 hours (for all forums). 30 in the BB Windows forum in last 24 hours.

That seems plenty to me.

BTW, you can see a list of all posts for all forums by pressing the "Latest Posts" button at the top of the forum list, or clicking here http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=activetopics&range=7&type=p

At the moment it shows 8 registered users, 16 guests (i.e. not logged in), and 6 known search spiders, which is 30. I've never seen it at 2 or 3 (?) However, there are a few reasons the numbers could appear lower. One is that the old forum lumped search spiders with guests. Another is that the new forum blocks more known spammers. Another is that the "who's online" timeframe is lower.

Edit: We've set the who's online timeframe to match the old forum, and now the numbers are over 100...

Is there anyway to disable the topic previews? It's all very nice but quite distracting. Perhaps if we just right clicked or something to see the preview

Thanks

I also see a lot of white space - perhaps because there is a large section on the right for shout box, news, stats, posters etc that wasn't ther before. I think I like the old way better - but then again I don't usually like change just for the sake of change

You can turn off that right panel in My Stuff.

They are apparently working on turning off the preview. At present, the new checkbox doesn't work, or so it was reported.

Good tip, Matt. At least for those who are bothered by the preview. I am fine with the preview.

Cheers,
Mike

Hi,

We've added a User Preference to disable the "tooltip style" topic preview.

BTW the 'forum stats' on the right panel now shows that there were 157 users online at 2:44 PM (pacific time)
