Hello All,
I'm working on some country tunes with signature licks such as 'From a Jack to a King'.
These licks need to be imported from midis, but the 'import melody from midi' feature is once again problematic for me.
The settings such as # bars offset, how many bars, and # of blank bars make my head spin.
Anybody using this feature consistently and successfully?
All help is greatly appreciated.

You might find it easier to import the midi file first using the 'Import Chords from Midi File' menu command. Whether you ultimately use the chords is immaterial. The midi will end up on the melody track and any chords and other parts you add will be in sync.
Once the midi is on the melody track you can edit it with the sequencer dialog and piano roll. You can add or change chords however you want after that.

Thanks so much for your quick response.
Just what I needed.
It's like a Swiss army knife for midi files !
The 'import chords from midi file' in the drop-down list shortchanges it.
I focused on the melody and just couldn't see the forest for the trees.

I had trouble with this also. I just played around with it using trial and error along with the undo until I got it right. If there's an intro on the song already, I think it's easier. Lot's of songs I work on, do not have intro's, so I have to add one. I have to laugh at myself when I first started doing playalongs without intros and I would actually try to figure out how to come in exactly at the right time. I guess trying to be right on with the counting during silence didn't work for me. The Help menu did provide some assistance to me though. YMMV
