Trying not to ask questions too often, and learn better by working through things. But this one is probably so basic that I am just looking way past it ...
I picked-up BIAB again a month or so ago, upgraded my 2008 to 2013 and have been enjoying working with it and discovering the changes/improvements.
I must have altered a setting/option or something without knowing it however, because when I launched it this morning to carry on where I left off yesterday evening the bars/columns in the chord pattern window suddenly remain fixed-width and don't adjust proportionally to maintain a 4-bar view if I adjust the window to be a different width.
I have a wide enough monitor that I like to resize the work-window and have my lyric sheet open alongside - it can be a useful reference, can throw up where a scan that worked fine in my head might need to be adjusted in places in order to be a smooth lyric.
But from this morning if I resize the chord pattern window it now just progressively cuts off the bars as I reduce the width. I don't believe I altered anything, haven't been anywhere near the options/display menu at all to do that. Puzzling.
And of course, now I can't find a floating/proportional resize option anywhere that I have looked. So can someone point me to what I know I must be completely overlooking please?
Thanks!

hannay,
You can click on OPT > Return to Factory settings then select Return MOST to factory settings.
This will probably cure it. It does affect few other things, but not total reset.
The second option return ALL you lose all of your settings back to start over modes.
I do have to do Return MOST once in awhile when wandering down wrong path.
Good Luck!
BTW, probably more options, but this is one method.

Thanks seeker for the suggestion.
I just tried it but with no change, it still won't resize proportionally with either MOST or ALL reset.
I'm sure there's a task-specific on/off switch somewhere that's been watching and laughing while I've been looking for it!
Thanks anyway, appreciated.

You might want to change the screen resolution on your PC. I had to do that to make the font larger on BIAB's tool-bars. Later, Ray
PS I lowered the resolution to make the fonts larger.

Hi Ray, and thanks.
I already experimented with that when trying to come up with things myself first.
Although you can modify certain aspects of the appearance by altering the screen resolution, it doesn't alter the way that the contents of the opened window behave when you resize it ... they still remain static and get partly-hidden if you reduce the window size, they don't just follow-along with the reduction and shrink in proportion to still display the full 4-bar measure.
Really weird, as it has resized correctly all the time until I switched the 'puter off yesterday, and then from this morning it has only provided fixed-size content that takes almost the full width of the screen and if I reduce the window size to 2/3rds it cuts off every 4th bar + a little more ... nuisance!
Does anyone else have any other thoughts? A setting/option somewhere I haven't found? I'd be extremely grateful!!

Hi Hannay, I'm not sure what process you use to resize the BIAB main window but one that I've found effective is as follows. 1. Click on the Windows "Maximize" icon to enter resizable mode. 2. Hover the mouse pointer over the lower right corner of the window frame until it becomes a double-pointed arrow. When this happens, hold the left button down and drag the frame to a new size. BIAB's resizing works best when the lower right corner of the frame is used to resize the display window. Also when this corner is used for changing a window's size, BIAB remembers the setting between sessions. I think a song needs to be generated for this change in size to be stored in a settings file. (Using the left, right and bottom sides of a window's frame to resize independently does not seem to accomplish the same result.) With the above in mind, what I'd do is to resize the window using the bottom right corner, generate the song, exit BIAB, restart BIAB and see if the problem is solved. Regards, Noel

In addition ...
If following what I've outlined above does not bring any joy, go to the directory that you have Band In A Box in (for me, this is c:\bb). Once there, locate and rename the following files.
1. intrface.bbw (Note there is no "e" between "r" and "t".)
2. mysetup.dk
I'd change the names to something like intrface.old and mysetup.old.
Renaming means ...
1. It's possible to get the files back if you need to.
2. That they are effectively 'deleted' from BIAB's perspective and completely new versions of these files will be created next time BIAB is started. This is the ultimate 'return to factory settings' as these two files store all user settings.
Regards, Noel

Hi Noel, and thank you .... The normal way, *grab* a side/top/bottom/corner by cursoring over it 'til the pointer becomes a double-headed arrow, then click-and-drag it to resize the window ... just as you describe in fact. Sadly, your suggested resize/generate/close/reopen steps makes no difference. Plus, up til friday evening I could just drag-and-resize right on the desktop no problem without any other steps. So it should still be resizing the contents of the window as well in proportion in order to present the full measure. Instead however it still reduces just the *frame*, and the content stays same-size so gets covered/clipped. It is almost as if the upgrade from 2008 (where I think window-content didn't resize in proportion?) to 2013 (where it certainly should do!) has suddenly dropped this function since the last time I switched off. And in case you are wondering, yes I did try shutting down again and restarting in case it was a one-off loading problem, but it was still the same. As a last-ditch attempt I could always try reapplying the update if there isn't a simple switch-it-on option that I am missing, in case something has become corrupted ... but that's really just an uneducated stab in the dark. So at the same time if anybody actually knows of a legitimate option/step that officially enables you to flip between fixed content size and content that resizes with the window, feel free to point it out - please! I am in the UK and it is ater 1:30am so I need to get to bed, but I'll check back in the morning and then see about chasing this down further in the clear light of a new day! Thanks in advance for anyone who might have more to add on this.

Noel - just seen your follow-up on posting my reply to your first.
I really do need to go to bed now but will look at that further suggestion in the morning - thanks so much!

Hannay,
I forgot to point out that when you rename those two files I've mentioned in an above post, you need to do it when BIAB is closed.
Hope this helps, Noel

Thanks for that added pointer, Noel.
Yesterday was totally lost in a welter of Fathers Day things so I didn't get a chance to do anything.
I ran through these suggestions again this morning but with no change at all.
Regardless of any fix however, all of this has at least established that there isn't a user-option enabling you to switch between fixed and proportionally-resizable displays - at first I had simply assumed that there must be, and that I could therefore switch it back once I had found the setting for that.
So if anybody comes here later with the same problem and expectation and wants to find the flipover option for themselves in order to make that change manually, stop looking there isn't one ....
So on that basis I decided to simply reinstall the 2008-2013 upgrade, assuming that something had become corrupt/broken within the installation/files.
And happily that fixed it, the window resizes and so does the content so nothing is clipped.
There may well be some other fix, but one hasn't come to the surface just yet so unless anything suitable is added from a PG tech source afterward this may remain the best option for someone else finding themselves in the same position.
My thanks to those who offered their time and assistance, it was really appreciated ... this is a great community, I wish some other help-forums were even a quarter as good!
