Has someone made some styles or realdrums where the drums only plays hihats in even 8th notes and other stuff like this. I need to start a song with Hihats only. It's easy to mute all instruments except drums but I only need the HiHats. This type of material would be very useful. I have tried to fool around with styles but I find it pretty confusing.

This is a good question - which unfortunately I don't have an answer, but I working on a similar problem with a tune right now...

Real Drums (RD) are my go-to drums simply because they do so much and sound so fine so fast. If you are not a drummer then RD's are the best as you just select one and your done. But... when you really need that single sound, in your case "HiHats Only" or in my case "brushes on 2 and 4 only" they just don't have the flexibility to get what you want. I guess it is the same for all the BIAB RTs, but drums seem to be a special case as other RTs can be close to what you want and still work, but if the drums are off then there is a big part missing.

For me, I am about to move over to Jamstix in my DAW and see if I can get my sounds. I would prefer not to move out of BIAB just yet with this song but the drums just need to be better now.

So at this point I think all we can do is go to the wishlist forum and ask for is more "edit ability" for the RDs in future versions.

I know that editing styles can be intimidating, but its actually very empowering once you get a handle on it. Creating a custom style with only hi-hat hits would take no time at all.

If you just needed them as an intro (such as in "Aint too proud to beg") easier than creating a style would be to enter the hi-hat hits manually in piano roll.

And in Real Band there is a drum grid editor similar to the the grid in FLStudio, which is a quick and easy way to enter custom percussion parts. Another solution might be to use that grid in RB to create the drum part, then export it as either audio or midi, and then import it to BIAB as one of the customizable tracks.

Another possibility: if you have a loop you like of the HiHat sound, BIAB now takes loops. This is assuming you have a recent version.

Or edit the MIDI parts generating the drums - just remove all but the hi-hats...Not sure if that would work with BIAB, but it is simple enough to do in a DAW using VSTi's

Cerio's site, www.realdrumsforbiab.com, might have just what you are looking for with his free "Practice metronomes" download. He has variants with hi-hat, side stick, shakers, etc.

Hi folks , although a newcomer to the forums Ive been using BIAB for quite a while and have made up a few basic drumstyles using various Drum Vst's and loops and am at present making up a style of Hats only ,Kiks only and mixes
the only problem being ,to insert these with other drum styles in a song they are going to sound different to the main style but when they are finished if they are of any use
i will gladly post them . Paul505
