"Ooh Ahh" is a song I wrote that was inspired by "Sussidio" by Phil Collins with those EWF Hornz doin what they do best!

Way back in '98 I was experimenting with BIAB drums along with PowerTrack Pro apps. I used the drum style of Toto's "Animal" that was supplied by BIAB and tweaked it to fit this jam I was working on.

Because I grew up during the FUNK BAND era, I fell in love with intricate horn arrangements; ie, Chicago and EWF. I Then there are the funky horn arrangements! Once I allowed my head to go different places and get into that zone we all get into when we create, I was satisfied with the end results.

Hello, K-Vaughn-B

Oooh Aaah !
I fell in love with your wonderful tune !
It so happens I love this funky groove style
of music ! WOW WOW WOW !!!!!! I must play this
for my son also, as he is very good at electronic
music and is also (like me) a big fan of Frank Zappa
and Kraftwerk as well as many others in those
special musical regions !!!

Cheers
Dani

Very nice. I have always enjoyed Funk. Chicago and EWT came along in my late teens, and I was always enamored with their tight horn arrangement. And, of course there was Seawind. Great memories.

Thanks for sharing this one.

Sounds really nice!
How did you program those drum tracks?
They sound like Real Drum tracks, but I didn't think you could program Real Drum tracks like that.
Or are they meticulously programmed midi tracks?

Keep up the good work!

Thanx Dani!!

I also LUV Kraftwerk of the 80s MTV era! They were funky too.

Tell me how your son's take on this tune once he hears it.

Harpo, my method is to always lay down the drum's foundation first. Once I complete all of the other tracks, I then meticulously tweak my drum track inserting accents, riffs, rests, etc.

I like to think I have a "drummers" mind when I need to tap into their psyche.

This track, however, is not created with RealDrums. The sound canvas of this track is my Yamaha YPG-525.

Pat,

Thanx so much for your compliments! It's good to know that somebody else other than the creator of the tunes enjoys what is heard.

What a great funky sound. Love the arrangement punctuated with triplets.
Keep up the great work.

Cool vibe. The Funk Period was in my lost middle years when I played and listened to mostly bluegrass. Before then it was 60's stuff (some proto funk) and later blues and alt country -- so I kinda missed out on this music.

But I can appreciate a good piece of work...and this is one. I can also appreciate the amount of time it took with the instrument choice and the mix. My only little nit and it may be my aging ears but on my monitors it seems like there is an over all tendency of the solos to be panned leftward. Fun listen and thanks for posting!

Hi K-Vaughn-B,

enjoyable listen. Great background track.
When you like the funky horn arrangements so much,
why don't you mix them a little bit more in front?
