I don't know. I've used BIAB for twenty years without ever pressing P. When I get to my music computer, I'll try it.
I've never had measures deleted by clicking. Perhaps you should try Opts, Return to Factory Settings. When odd things happen in BIAB, this and rebooting are two things to try.
BIAB 2025 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 7 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Roland Integra-7, Presonus 192 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.
Using "p" is a shortcut for adding a "Part Marker". It's not deleting a bar.
For example, here's a 4-bar sequence.
Now I press "p" after I've clicked on bar 3 and I get the below 4-bar sequence. As you can see, all the chords are still in there same bars (i.e. the bar numbers are the same). All that's been introduced is a Part Marker for bar 3.
A Part Marker is a way of getting an accompaniment variation happening. In the above, because bar 3 begins with a Part Marker that's the same colour (blue) as the previous Part Marker at bar 1, this means that a drum break of some kind will happen in bar 2 as it leads in to bar 3.
If I click on the blue Part Marker at bar 3, it turns green (shown below).
Now if you regenerate the song, you'll hear that there's a drum break in bar 2 and then the accompaniment changes at bar 3. For most styles, green Part Markers are a busier version of the loaded style.
I suggest you have a look under "Help" and then search the "Index" for Part Marker. This will give a more thorough explanation.
In addition to the valuable info provided above, the music following a part marker doesn't have to be on a new line (which might have caused confusion for you - it may have looked as though bars had been removed, leaving blanks).
This setting is available from the Opt > Preferences > Display settings, - Uncheck "New Line for every section" as shown below:
BIAB & RB2025 Win.(Audiophile), Sonar Platinum, Cakewalk by Bandlab, Izotope Prod.Bundle, Roland RD-1000, Synthogy Ivory, Kontakt, Focusrite 18i20, KetronSD2, NS40M Monitors, Pioneer Active Monitors, AKG K271 Studio H'phones
Yes, that was it. Thanks a lot. I was just looking to add some fills. Would not have guessed the following measures would be automatically interpreted as section beginnings! Ha!
Interestingly, there have been a few requests over the past year to give us the ability to program a fill separately from the section/part markers.
By the way, on the graphic above by Videotrack, if I remember correctly, there is a minimum length to a section that moves to the next line of two measures, and I'm pretty sure it can't be just one.

Ah, then no two-measure-in-a-row-fills? Gotta try that. Dunno why i try what's not in a program before getting complacent and just using it "correctly"
