Happy New Year All.
I have two burners in my computer, Nero Express, which I think is installed with Windows 7 & CD Burner XP which I don't remember installing. Perhaps it also came with Windows 7. I was wondering If there were better ones. Which ones do our forum folk prefer?
I do a bit of performing still, using my own Real Band backing tracks downloaded into a small Nano Ipod plugged into the PA. Sounds fine but it is so fiddly .It is too easy to hit the wrong tune or volume setting & is embarrassing stopping & starting over. I would like to switch to a CD player but I am having problems with burning wave or mp3 files. The burners either tell me I'm using the wrong disk or if I get one to burn wave files it will only play in my computer. I don't own an mp3 player yet so haven't tested those other than in my Ipod. I have been told I should us DVD-R or CD-RW disks. I have tried both but wont burn or wont play. So question number 2 is which disks should I be using?...Hank

We need more information on this.

I'm familiar with Nero Express. When i'm about to burn an audio-CD I select the eighth-note-icon, then Audio CD, then I add files and then burn the CD. They play on any CD-player.

Most CD-players don't accept anything but Audio-CDs, some newer ones take also mp3-CDs and some others will accept DVDs.

I most often use 700 MB CD-R blanks, fewer times I use 650 MB CD-R blanks.

Background: Audio-CDs use a specific format. This format is NOT wave, not mp3...it is a format for Audio-Cds only. Your CD burner transfers all readable music file formats into this specific Audio-CD format. More information is available on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compact_Disc_Digital_Audio

Best regards and a Happy New Year.
Guido

I've been using a SONY portable DVD player for the past few years without a problem... I use CD-RW discs (any make) and use Express Burn (free) - I normally make an MP3 disc, which works fine in the DVD player, but will not work in a regular CD player - for that you need to make an 'audio' cd.. The SONY has a nice screen that lists the titles of the songs - our current gig CD has about 35 5-6 minute tracks on it, with room to spare...there's a start and stop button, and I rarely have any issues with either one...I use the audio jack on the SONY into our Mackie mixer into 2 JBL EONS... decent sound, but a bit muddy for my taste... Hope this helps...

I have used both with no problems in my 64 bit Win 7 computer.

I would not use either DVD-R or CD-RW discs as many CD players will not read them. Use only silver colored CD-Rs, colored CD-Rs will not play on all CD players either, burn an audio disc not a data disc, then close/finalize the burn. I also do not burn at the max speed, usually 48X-52X as that may cause problems. I burn at 24X and verify each burn.

How are you burning your CDs?

An after thought; also do not use super cheap CD-Rs. Stay with name brands like Memorex or Verbatim.

OK, a random thought;
Why does toilet paper need a commercial? Who's not buying it?

64 bit Win 10 Pro, the latest BiaB/RB, Roland Octa-Capture audio interface, a ton of software/hardware

Thanks for helpful replies
I now have MP3's that work & Pooch, I just went to Walmart & spent $80.00 +tax on a RCA portable DVD player. Couldn't find Sony but it works fine. I will also be able to watch a video while I'm driving to the job.
Thanks again... Hank
