Hi all,
I have a problem that may require me to re-install PT. There are times when PT does not send signals to my plug ins. Meaning playing the keyboard produces no sounds from my piano plug ins at all. I had to do a PC "system restore" to get it to work but this am, all plug ins are silent. I ordered the PT via download but now I can't find the exec file anywhere. It will be two more hours before I can call tech support but in the mean time could you please offer some advice? Thanks all. DP

There are two files you can rename which will return PT to factory settings:
PTW.INI
PTPA.CFG
Rename these files to something like PTPAOld.CFG and PTWOld.INI
Then PT should recreate those critical files when launched.
You'll have to reselect your devices like it was a new install, but it may work.
If not just rename those files back to their original names.
Have you done a Search for the install file?
Likely a copy in your Downloads folder ..
Make your sound your own!

Hello,
I contacted tech support and removed the old PT file and downloaded/installed a new one. Now none of my VSTi works at all but they worked well in the past. Somehow the MIDI data from master controller does not get send to any of my VSTi libraries at all. I had to switch over the Mixcraft and no problem there. I have been using PT since 1995 and I would like to keep using it. Thanks all. Dai

In the Preferences - Audio tab there is a button for 'Redirect all MIDI toDefault DXi'.
You'll like want to click the Drivers button there and change to ASIO drivers.
Make your sound your own!

You'll like want to click the Drivers button there and change to ASIO drivers. Hi there, I will do that once I get home tonight. Thank you. I would like to know what changes were made to PT that caused this problem as it worked perfectly before? The only thing new is that I recently installed a virtual piano program (Ivory II) but that should not be the problem. Dai

You'll like want to click the Drivers button there and change to ASIO drivers. Hi, I did what you suggested and now it works. Somehow, the driver default kepts reverting to MME instead of ASOI so that is why I don't get MIDI signals from my controller. Thanks Dai

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
