I couldn't find any postings about this issue, so I'm starting a new thread.
I'm running BIAB 2014 in XP Professional (32-bit) on a Dell Latitude d530 (2.2GHz, 2MB RAM, 100 GB SATA HD). The video card has a generic Intel chipset, but I have the proper driver installed for it. The laptop display is 1024x768. I have a second display connected to the laptop, a Samsung SyncMaster 712n, running at 1280x1024. The issue is that when I send BIAB to the secondary monitor, it won't maximize to the full size of the display (which is the whole point). It remains a 1024x768 box. When I use the "restore down" button, I can stretch it out to the sides of the display, but it won't stretch vertically. Anyone know what I do to try to fix this? Out of curiosity I installed BIAB on another computer running Windows 8, and was able to maximize it in full HD on a secondary monitor, so the issue seems to involve XP.

While I can't offer a fix I can confirm the issue. I have a second monitor attached to my XP based laptop and it behaves the way you describe. What seems to be happening is the second monitor display is simply an extension of the display on the first monitor; that is, it's the same resolution as the primary display. It seems to be an OS issue not related to BiaB.

There are some BiaB related issues with multiple monitors as well. For example, drop down menus appear on the primary display even when BiaB is on the secondary. Also the VST plugins always jump back to the primary display when invoked or changed (however this issue may be a VST implementation issue rather than BiaB).

I've discovered a work around for this problem. My graphics driver software allows me to make the monitor the primary display and the laptop my extension monitor. When I start BIAB up from the monitor as the primary display it maximizes correctly. Problem solved, although somewhat awkwardly.

Works the same way in Windows 7 for me...I suspect the general rule is "set your primary monitor to the monitor with the greatest resolution..."

This is still a problem with 2016. The basic problem is that they are orienting all the windows as if they were displayed on the default monitor. This is just plain wrong, and it is amazing to me it hasn't been fixed yet.

The basic GUI rule here for classic Windows apps is that the programmer should save the coordinates of every window that can pop up and the next time it pops up, it should appear exactly where it was the previous time, as long as that is still a valid place on the current monitor configuration.

And here's a warning. This was mildly annoying up through the 2015 release. With 2016, the new style picker makes it impossible to use, at least with my monitor setup. I have three monitors and they have different geometries. I don't want any DAW, Notation, VST, or BIAB windows on my default monitor. That is just for OS stuff. The upshot is every time I want to try a different style, it takes me about 10 mouse operations to get that style picker into view. BIAB is absolutely the only app I have that has this problem. This really needs to be fixed.

Do not upgrade to 2016 if you are running multiple monitors -- you will be sorry. (It might work OK as long as you only want to use your default monitor.)
