i have not found directions for doing this. i read, i think in the capabilities that this function exists.
i have not found, via searching where this capability is discussed. am i just totally ignorant?
the vocal is 'there is no one more irish than barak obama'. i am able to choose gen harm and select harmonize to the chord symbols and select output to different channel than input. i choose generate.
the result is something on track 2 but fairly good vocal yet. oh, i did set voice dry level to -infinity.
any help out there?
thanks in advance. i am in the 70+ age club as i noticed some of you are. i am trying to keep up and the capability offered is growing faster than i can obsorb, meaning i will be way behind always.

Hi Wantto, I don't mean to sound flippant, but I think we all wantto, be able to do that vocal removal thingy. Problem is it's hard to do. Someone on the forum may have figured it out to some degree, but I've never heard of a really successful effort from an Mp3 or Wav. You can cross fade, and filter out a lot of stuff, and center cancel and sometimes you can get some kind of result, but it would take a better man than I to figure it out.

On the forum for the wave editor I use (Goldwave) this question probably comes up once a week. The standard answer is: if the vocal is recorded mono and equally on both the L/R channels, then it can sometimes be cancelled out, but it is rarely perfect. On page 222 of my BIAB user guide it has a "PG Vocal Remover Plug-in". I've no idea where it is in the program, tho...

I have tried this using the PG vocal remover plug-in. It did not do a good enough job for what I was doing.
Any vocal remover works on three principles:
1: something centered in the mix.
2: level
3: frequency
Because of this you will lose something when you try to remove vocals.
With the PG remover I found it would pump (Compress heavily when vocals came on) something terrible. It also did not really remove the vocals. During the vocal parts the music would almost fade to half volume.
It just didn't sound right or good at all.
To me it was unusable results.
You can access this by putting the mp3 on a track in PTPA. Call up the DX effect for the track and call up the vocal remover.
