This weekend, I tried to print a leadsheet to a pdf file, and the latest version wouldn't do it, stalling with installing a PDF piece of firmware, but never recognizing the installation , even after reloading BB, and rebooting altogether. Similarly, rendering a mixed real instrument and midi ensemble with tempo changes and ritards, produced a messy mish-mash after the tempo change. Has anyone experienced that, or have a work around, other than dropping the tempo changes and midi instruments altogether, which appeared to get the job done... after some wasted effort trying to use a mixed ensemble, with multiple embedded bar changes....

Try doPDF or Bullzip pdf printers. If you are using ASIO try and set the Audio driver to MME and render it, this method works in Realband when you get missing notes with a VSTi.

I use Bullzip (as recommended by SolidRock) and I've never had a problem. (BIAB 2014 here)

My preference has been cutepdf. I did try the BIAB option but it was no better, and sometimes had problems.
The software installs a vitual printer (as I am sure do the others). It's simple and easy to manage. I leave it as my default printer, so I never print stuff accidentally. You can always switch to a real printer when you are ready.
It was a nice feature, but totally unnecessary.

Is saving as a JPG file an option? It's very easy to do. Later, Ray

Thanks for the Bull ZIP tip. The Wav file corruption after a tempo change on a held chord, followed by an instrument being unmuted in the next measure beginning a chorus section, with a mixed Real and Midi ensemble was very disappointing, as I only tested the render by listening to only the first part of the song file, which was fine with just a solo guitar (Real instrument) and added bass (Real Instrument). I was working with a new partner, and it was embarrassing, burning the corrupted file onto a cd for them to use to practice vocals, since these kinds of major corrupted rendering train wrecks were so rare with earlier versions of BIAB. I had to make instrument changes, drop the bar setting changes and re-record, and burn a new CD the next day. It's a key feature of the product, rendering, and I have depended on it for years now. Is this not happening to anyone else? Was this kind of rendering example, using bar changes (tempo changes, and instrument muting then being unmuted) tested prior to release? What kind of rendering testing is done? I was using the standard Roland soft synth that has been with BIAB since the beginning.

Hi DB,
I've been trying to work out what could have caused your problem. It's not something I've come across.
Is one or more of the tracks frozen? That could potentially create this issue because once the track is frozen, it is not regenerated again and it might be that a frozen track without changes is playing alongside tracks that have changes.
What I'd do is to narrow down which track(s) is(are) creating the problem. To do this, start the song playing and mute the tracks one by one until those that are creating the issue are identified. If that information could be added to this thread, it would be useful.
I'd like to try and recreate the problem but to do this, I need a lot more information regarding which base style was used, what tracks are employed, more specific information about the changes, etc. Alternatively, if you want to email me SGU/MGU file, I'm happy to have a look at it. You can find my email address if you click on "Noel96" and then "view profile".
Regards, Noel

Thanks Noel. No frozen tracks. Problem is not in the playback, so track muting doesn't help find any problems, since playback went fine. It's the rendering that got out of synch and sounded like a train wreck when after a soft intro verse, the first chorus brought in all other instruments including drums, and muted guitar ( first midi, then subbed that out for the realtrack muted guitar with phaser) on top of an acoustic bass (midi) and acoustic realtrack guitar. Synch in playback was not a problem, just in wav rendering. The transition into this full ensemble chorus was preceded by a measure with embedded chord hold, and bar setting that changed tempo to extend the chord hold a bit. Then the first measure of the chorus had bar settings to un mute the ensemble instruments previously muted, and change the tempo back to beginning tempo.. The style is FOlkFunk. I have worked around the unknown distinctive cause for the out-of synch rendering by dropping the tempo changes and subbing a realtrack for the midi guitar track. Things synched back up in the rendering, and all is merry.
