With the latest release of BiaB, all of the re-arranged buttons, windows, and the mixer, take up about 1/3 of the screen real-estate at the top, and the 2/3 of remaining space now has to be shrunk to get the same amount of music on the page.
While this may be great when you're sitting at a 23+" monitor at your desktop, it's a pain when you take a laptop out on a gig and all you need is "File/Open" button and the "Transport" icons. There should be a way to shrink or close the rest of the unneeded stuff at the top, (extra buttons, mixer window, etc.) so you can see the music underneath. My eyes aren't getting any better as I get older, and even with a 17" laptop, I'm squinting to see the music.
If all they're going to do is rearrange the buttons and control portion, then I think they should at least give us some options to control it. What I need when I'm creating stuff is not what I need when I'm performing with it.

This may just be another way to do the same thing Ray suggested already if it is I apologize, but here is what I do after I learned it on this very forum:
I highlight the BIAB screen, then hold the Windows key usually between Fn and alt (on my laptop anyway and press the right arrow.
Also as I use the memo pad for my lyrics I repeat the step on that screen. This gives me a 50/50 split screen with both of those screens.

If you want a separate screen with File Open and the Transport controls, you may find the apps useful. There are BiaB and RB apps currently. Both allow the for the requirements you mention and may be worth the price (I think it's like a dollar). In BB you can load the songs to the app (I've not tested this), but in RB it requires running the seq file from the computer (your notebook) for the sound etc. . this I've used numerous times without issue. Reviews don't look good, but quite honestly I think the reviewers don't see the intent, didn't read the actual specs, or don't understand their current BiaB is the actual server they need. Better documentation would easily solve these issues. You'll still need the notebook present, but then you can control File selection and Transport functions from your phone or tablet. RB also includes the mixer and other functions; I have not used the BB one much so not sure about the options. For your need it may be just the ticket. It wouldn't matter what the screen looked like on the notebook, the app would allow remote control of the Transport and File selection functions.
