Hi

If I save a song in B-I-B that has tempo changes in it as a WAV file, the tempo changes disappear. Does anybody have any idea how to fix this?

Tempo does not get saved to a wave file.
Use the native format or move to RealBand.

Realband will allow you to save multiple audio tracks as an seq file and it retains the tempo.

Unfortunately I think you'll find most programs do not include a tempo map when saving as a regular wav file. The exception may be if it is saved as a loop .. these can have the tempo stored in the file's 'header'. But these cannot account for tempo changes.

I think RB will be your best bet.
Open the BiaB file in RB.
Render it to an audio track (see note), save it in the native seq file format. Than add additional audio or generate new tracks at will.

Note: if you pay attention to the options available when using Audio - merge audio and DXi to stereo .. you'll notice you can merge it to a 'track' (in the current project) or to a 'file' (in wav format).

Depending on the use this can be a real time saver.
If you do render it to a file, you can always select a new blank track and use 'Usio Import' to import the wav file back into the .seq project and it will line up with the tempo changes.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Thanks for the prompt reply...I really love this forum!

I wasted a few hours trying to fix this problem, and now I know that Band-in-a-box can't do it!

I've been reluctant to start using RealBand (being a bit long in the tooth, I'm a bit resistant to change) but I guess I must now dive in and start playing with it. The silly thing is that once I get started, I know I'm going to love it!

Thanks again for the help.

FYI:

First off, I am assuming you are talking about saving a BIAB song as a WAV file.

As a test, I have a song I made up that has 115 measures on it. The 1st 2 measures start at 85 BPM and change to 110 BPM up to measure 95 where it changes to 100 BPM, 90 BPM at measure 96 and 85 BPM at measure 97. At measure 98 to the end the BMP setting is back up to 110. You can see I have quite a few tempo changes in this song.

When I drag the Master into the drop station to export individual files and put them in my DAW, the tempo changes are there exactly where I placed them.

I also just made a simple 12 bar blues song and grossly changed the tempos ranging from 65 to 140 BPM at various measures, dragged the master into the drop station, placed the files in my DAW and the tempo changes were are correct. They are also correct when I just play the wave files in my normal media player.

I did this as both individual wav files and as a combined wav file.

I am not seeing a tempo change problem here.

Using 2014 build 381.

Ditto that, I have never had a problem with a tempo change not appearing in an exported wav file from BIAB.

What Rharv is referring to is storage of the actual tempo value in the file's metadata. Of course he is correct, but the playing of the wav file should reflect any tempo changes.

He did not drag/drop to another DAW .. he was saving as a wave file as far as I can tell from OP. Much different.

Dragging and dropping to another DAW would work also .. but with RB as the DAW, if you open the BB file instead, you retain some extra features and settings compared to other DAWs.

At this point in time I am not really sure of what he was talking about. I just saved my test file as a WAV file and just played it in Windows Media player and all the changes I made were included so again I am unable to duplicate his problem. No DAW or DRAG-DROP was involved in exporting the song as a wav file. Just a simple File-Export Song as .wav action.
