This is a change, I think was brought about by the introduction of the Node volumn changes. In the past I have been able to use the CUT function, select "Use Data Filter" and select the Data I wish to cut.

I am finding that this still works except for Vol Control CC7 and for VolNode Ctrl CC87 which I cannot remove with CUT.

However, if I open the Main Tracks Window and access the Node line, I can highlight the track, right click and choose Delete to remove all the Volumn data one track at a time. Alternatively, I can use the Event List one track at a time and remove the entries there. The latter alternatives are not good solutions.

Can someone check this before I advise Support??

In the first Cut pop up that appears, look for a Nodes check box and enable.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Thanks Bob,

I had missed this option previously. Now this opens another can of beans. Try selecting Nodes and cutting without using the Data Filter. In my system this does NOT Cut the Nodes but instead removes the notation leaving the Nodes untouched.

You would think that if you selected Nodes and used the Data Filter to find and select the other data for deletion this should work. It does not.

If you will advise how this works for you, I will look into my system in more detail.

I have had a look at the Node cutting problem and would advise as follows:

Controllers CC7 & CC85 Node indicators.

Nodes were introduced in 2014 to provide a graphical means of showing changes to volume in the Main Tracks Window. These controls work for both Midi and Audio Tracks.

While I use Nodes extensively when Mixing Audio Tracks, I do not use them when developing Midi data. When developing an existing Midi file I usually remove all Midi data and store this in a separate frozen track

Unfortunately, the operation of the Edit Function “CUT” combined with the Data Filter has been altered and now gives problems.

If you use “CUT” and select “Events” (Default) then the Events are cut, but some CC7 and all the CC87 data entries are not and remain in the track. Combined CC7 & CC87, with identical timings, are not treated as Events.

There is now an option for “Nodes” separately. If you select this option and CUT then CC87 plus any associated CC7 with the same timing remain – all other CC7 entries are removed.

Now, CUT selecting “Nodes” only. The result is the same as for the previous test.

Now select the option to use the Data Filter(which should override any selections in the Main Panel) to delete all Controllers 0 to 127. The result is to remove all Controller Events except the Node data CC 87 & associated CC7 Events.

You can delete CC87 and rogue CC7 Events laboriously in the Event List one at a time.

You can also open up each track in the Main Tracks Window to show the Node items and use the right click menu to select “Erase all Nodes”. Also very laborious.

The best workaround is to COPY all the Tracks but not select the “Node” option. Then Paste the tracks back again overwriting the existing data. Work can now proceed as previously.

Interestingly, the CC87 nodes once removed do not reappear on future re-openings of sanitized .seq files..

I didn't need Nodes before 2014 (Piano Roll method worked fine) and notice the confusion since their introduction.
For a couple years the Wishlist had them as a desired item.

Some of this probably should have been caught in Beta, but sometimes it behaves as users would like .. maybe not me; but I'm not the majority. Just a long time user.

It is what it is at this point. To one user 'I cut a section of MIDI and lost my volume changes' is an issue .. to others 'I cut the MIDI events and the volume changes didn't go away" is an issue. What is the expected behavior?

Wishlist it (with suggestions for wanted behavior) is my best advice. The created Nodes due to wishlist items, maybe they'll refine them using the same path.

I was under the impression, during Beta Testing, that the Nodes were an Audio only feature and it was only later that I realised that Nodes were used also for Midi Tracks and this would be useful for Mixing Midi Tracks to be played via an external Keyboard Synth. Recently, I have began to audition Midi files for inclusion in a new Album and detected this problem.

As I have a fast workaround, I do not intend to spend more time on this matter, but will Email Support as this a BUG not a Wishlist item.
