Very recently something happened to my RB setup that caused the dropdown list for DXi soft synths in the Midi Devices dialog (Prefs) to go blank. In other words, I cannot select a default.
At first I only had 2 soft synths installed and was defaulting to the Coyote Forte DXi. Now I've installed a couple more and would like to use one (Dimension Pro) as the default. Not possible if the list is blank!
I don't know what happened to cause this but reinstalling the program did not help. Any suggestions? This is killing my projects...

Did you move the synths to a different folder, or run a program that may have?
Can you go to the DXi synth window, click 'add VSTi' at the bottom of the dropdown, and find the synths to reload them?
Do you have a check in the box 'reroute all midi to default DXi synth' in the midi preferences area, and then don't have s synth selected there? or it got moved?
Just a couple ideas to try

I haven't moved any synths. I can add them with the "Add VSTi" option but they still don't show up in the Midi Devices dialog afterward, and disappear altogether if I exit and restart the program.
But based on your third set of questions maybe I'm not explaining myself well. 'Reroute all midi to default DXi synth' is pointless because in the dropdown list below nothing is showing up. That was my original complaint.
And here's the really odd thing: I plugged in the external hard drive that PG Music provided and RB runs as expected from there, including the Midi preference settings. So why not on the PC's installation?

Am I the only one experiencing this?
That would be par for the course...
EDIT: nevermind... copying the RB files from the portable hard drive over the previous ones on my workstation fixed the problem. I still don't know what the cause was though...

Sounds like the softsynth dll was on an external drive. As long as you ran RB from that drive it could find it.
If you ran it from the C: drive it cxouldn't find the synth, DXi synths need to be registered as to there location (VSTi does not) and if the registry told RB it was at location A (and it wasn't there) it got removed..
