I have put together a new CD. Titled... DON'T LOOK BACK The tracks are all BIAB RealTracks with the exception of some acoustic guitars which I play, and some incredible picking by Rodney (TexasHeartRush) on "Wrong Mailbox" and a piano track (midi) played by Garland Craft in "Up To No Good Again". And, of course, Janice Merritt helps me out on a bunch of harmonies, most notably on "Written". A WHOPPING BIG THANK YOU to Peter and all the folks at PGMusic for making this possible. I was thinking earlier today... the guys who code this stuff deserve WAY MORE kudos than they ever receive!!!! Thank You...Alyssa Burgess, Andrew Peckover, Bill Galego, Blake Goodacre, Callie Cotterell, Catherine Cantwell, Charlie Gannon, David Dutkewich, Drew Shand, Evan Fabri, James Chandler Jr., Jareth Whitney, Jeff Yankauer, Kallum McIntosh, Kelvin Lawson, Kent Olafson, Lyne Juteau, Marty Cutler, Michi Tsubota, Mike Harrison, Miles Black, Oliver Gannon, Pauline Karch, Tobin Frank, Tony Chamberlist, Trudy Gosling (y'all are in there somewhere...) Oh... BTW... it's a free download. If you don't absolutely love it, I will gladly refund your entire purchase price... (just following the PG policy). The tracklist: 1. Wrong Mailbox 2. I Don't Care If The Moon Comes Out Tonight 3. One More Star 4. Reverend Bob's Beer and Barbeque Big Tent Bible Revival 5. Something's Gone Wrong 6. This I Love Tammy Tattoo 7. Up To No Good Again 8. I'll Wait For You To Catch Up 9. Written 10. The Girl Next Door floyd

Not a country fan, but sound and balance is very good. You should probably post this in the "User Showcase", where it will get more notice. Later, Ray

Floyd,
Seems like just yesterday you were the new kid here in the forum showing us long timers how to turn a phrase with your lyrics. I knew when I heard that smooth voice that you had a gift. You have come a long way. This is a wonderful collection of classic FloydJane.
Don't forget us when you get all famous.

Floyd,
I never listened to country music until you joined the forum. Every time a forum discussion about the genre started, Your insights and stories piqued my interest (and that's quite an accomplishment... not many perspectives change my thinking anymore).
Lately I've had a couple of country stations programmed into the car radio, and spend most of my driving time analyzing those songs in light of the many discussions you've started here on the forum(s) about the genre.
You are a class act, more than just a BIAB enthusiast. One or two small changes in the past might easily have led to circumstances in which your name was a household word.
Like everybody else here on the forum, I think highly of your songwriting and performing talent. Thanks for making these awesome songs available to us for free! (They're going straight to my MP3 player. )
And when I get to the point where I am playing live again, I'll probably be contacting you for permission to play covers of your songs

Pat - Those are some very nice things to say. If I have in any way expanded your listening field, that is "reward enough". This forum has done the same for me. I've certainly heard more jazz here than any other time in my life (combined). And bluegrass. And opera! thanks to Guenter (not to mention whatever you might label the amazing music he does)...
When the time comes... if you want the SGU (or the backing tracks sans vocal, for that matter) for any songs, let me know... I would be honored to be included in your set list...
Thanks again...

I just had a chance to listen to your CD and all I can say is WOW this is really good! In fact this sounds pro all the way!
My only question is "why haven't you been signed to a big record company yet"? You should be!
PS - My favorite song is "Wrong Mailbox"!
I got banned from Weight Watchers for dropping a bag of M&Ms on the floor. It was the best game of Hungry Hippos I've ever seen!

Hi Floyd. I was in the North Myrtle Beach Wal-Mart parking lot Monday night while my wife "quickly" (her words, not mine) shopped for shoes. There was a nice breeze blowing so I had all my truck windows down as listened to your CD. I noticed to gentlemen sitting in their SUV across from me, also with their windows down. I made sure the CD was playing loudly enough I could clearly hear all the music and it was also loud enough that these gentlemen could also hear it.
"The girl next door" played followed by "Written".
As "the girl next door ended, The two wives returned to the SUV from their shopping and were ready to leave. I overheard one of the gentlemen reply "Let's set here a minute, I want to hear the rest of that song playing over there."
So, they set in their vehicle and enjoyed "Written" before leaving.
Thought I would share.

Hey Charlie... something occurred to me...
In listening in your truck (the best place to listen to Country music)... how did the CD (the songs) compare in volume, tone, clarity, etc. with whatever you normally listen to there (radio, CDs, etc.)?
(be your usual honest/factual self...)

Hi Floyd. I sugarcoat to the fast, furious and vengeful. All others, I happily share the truth, or at least my version of the truth.
First I listen through the computer speakers and if I like a song then I listen through Sennheiser HD 280 Pro model headphones. I output songs from my computer through a Presonus audiobox to a stereo guitar amplifier and also reference check with a Iphone stereo in the bedroom. I save the truck for last because that is where it usually sounds the best.
That's the process I use to reference my original songs. I have three reference CD's that I will choose one of the three that is the most similar in style and play the reference first in the player in the bedroom and then in the truck. I set the volume and make any eq setting changes with the reference cd before sound checking my cd and compare loudness, balance and eq against.
My CD's normally do not fare well. Vocals are almost always muddy and thin and my favorite instrument used in that song well out front in the mix.
I listened to your album completely through first through the headphones output through my Presonus Audiobox interface. Printed a CD which went straight to the truck.
Your album fared very well with headphones and in the truck as far as loudness, balance, clarity and EQ. Throughout the whole album there was only a word or two of the vocals where they dropped down in the mix. My opinion that is due to the CD source being mp3's rather than waves. There was also an errant note or two that I assume are rendering anomalies. I honestly was surprised the loudness levels between the songs was as good as they were. I think I was able to pretty accurately pick the tunes in which you played acoustic guitar live rather than use a real track and was impressed with how you seem to consistently stay with a core group of instruments just as most albums recorded throughout by all live musicians would do. For example, your piano player sounded like it was the same player on all the tracks as the style and riff's remained similar rather than each piano sounding like a different instrument played by a different player using a different style. Hope that makes sense. What it did do was to add an element of realism and was attention to detail that many may overlook with such a quantity and variety of BIAB instruments to choose from.
I used the Eagles greatest hits volume II to set EQ and volume for your CD and the comparison was more than acceptable in consideration I made your CD from MP3's.
Charlie
