Greetings: I haven't done much with any virtual instruments. I have been using the sounds from my Yamaha keyboard. I would like to experiment with a reasonable quality VSTi but I'm looking for something cheap or free to start with, to see what it's all about. I'm using PTP ver 12. I searched this forum, but didn't find anwers. Searching the web, I came across www.dskmusic.com, which has a variety of free virtual instruments. My question is 2 part: 1. Does anyone have any experience with the DSK virtual instruments and do they work with PTP? And if so, any comments? 2. Any other recommendations for free VSTi's that are worthwhile? Thanks, Lare

Lare, go here and look at pluggin’s DXi and VSTi. Be sure to click on windows and free to see only those types. There are a lot of really good VSTi’s in this list. I have used the DSK VSTi’s in the past. I think they are ok but as with all evaluations of this nature some will say they are great while others think they stink. In the end you have to be the judge. I've tried several of them and while I liked the interface and they are free, I've never really liked them. I wanted to like them, but I just couldn't get the right sound. But I suggest trying a few out and seeing what you think. The nice thing about VSTs is, if you don't like them, you just delete them.
What instruments are you looking for?

I am in the category of those that think the DSK sounds are marginally useful. I spent quite a bit of download time taking down several of them and promptly removing them from my hard drive.
What kinds of sounds are you looking for - an entire GM soundset, pianos, other keyboards, etc?

Another Disapointed DSK user, i spent the time to download and was never able to get decent sound from them. I still use Sampletank free 2 for my basic sounds, and will buy Sampletank someday.

I have just tried the electric guitar with DSK but couldn't get it to work in audio, in fact it would not show up in the Aux. I then tried putting the guitar through in midi and it did show up and also worked but it actually changed all the instruments not only the guitar.
Pity cause it looked to be so good. I was looking for a VST to make an electric guitar sound more like a Fender Telecaster, a nice twangy sound. I also tried Freeamp for this but couldn't hear any difference in the sound at all.
Anyone got any ideas for a free VST to get the sound I am looking for.

Sorry NiS, but i am not following you, the description above does not make any sense, exactly what are you trying to do?

Hi Robh,
I´m trying to get a VST that will give me a sound like a fender Telecaster electric guitar, preferably a VST that is free.
Any ideas?
