I am using BIAB 2014 on a Windows 8 system. Rendering "wav" files is a very slow process. I am thinking about creating midi files, buying "midi to wav" conversion software, and then converting the midi files to "wav" files.
Can I do anything to make the "rendering" process faster ? If not, can you recommend midi to "wav" conversion software ? I used to use "midi2wav" and it worked great. Unfortunately, it did not work with Windows 8.

When you say "very slow", could you please time how long it takes and report back.
Also please let me know whether some of your tracks are Realtracks (green names) and some midi (yellow or blue names) or all Realtracks (green names).
Lastly, how many bars long is your song (for example, if the chord sheet has 16 bars and the song is played through 3 times, then the song is 3 x 16 = 48 bars long)?
Once I have the above information, I'll compare your time with my system.
To be honest, there is nothing to be gained by buying software to convert midi to audio. BIAB/RB contain a full suite of such software and it's probably better quality than what you'll find cheaply on the internet.
How the conversion process is done...
1. Midi supplies a set of instructions to sythesiser software such as Coyote Forte or Sampletank, etc.
2. These soft synths then provide the appropriate sounds for the midi instructions.
3. When rendering occurs, it's the sound of the soft synth as played by the midi instructions that is recorded.
Whatever conversion software is used, these steps must always be followed.

To say it's "slow" is relative.
My laptop was slow.... the DAW I built is not as slow.... but what does "Slow" really mean in seconds?
The idea of not letting BB/RB do the rendering....and instead, using a midi to wave rendering third party software solution sounds like a disaster waiting to happen..... You are stuck with using MIDI to create the wave...and that isn't the ideal way. Midi is generally very dry, or stiff sounding....
Let BB or RB take the time it needs to render....
If it's taking over a minute ...and that is really, really slow....you should call tech and let them help you discover the reason it's taking too long.
Even the "bigger" real tracks songs only take 15 to 20 seconds to regen in my machine and it's an i5 on XP/32 Pro.... Even if it took a full minute, I'd wait because the real tracks are SO worth it vs midi.... I don't use MIDI out of BB or RB. The only midi I use these days is midi I create by playing a part.
