Hello
I am using BIAB directly from the USB hard drive and it is connected to a Korg PA800
My driver implementation looks like this: In A USB MidiSport 2x2, OUT A USB and VST DXI is off.
When playing a song most channels are played by the Korg but one is still played by the laptop sound card?
Anybody has an idea since I did not select an internal source such as GS wavetable, MIDI mapper, VSC or Coyote?
Thanks in advance

Jean-Louis

What's happening is Biab is automatically substituting a Real Drum track for the midi drum track. This is the default setting but you can change it if you want. Go into your Real Drum Picker window and you'll see a combo box that says something like sub Real Drums for midi drums if Biab thinks they would sound better a certain percentage of the time. You can either change that or turn it off completely. You can also turn it off for that song only and force midi drums.

The reason Biab is set this way is most people think midi drums sound cheesy because they're not using a high quality midi drum synth. The Real Drums sound great but you lose the control you get with midi.

You have the PA800, I have the PA1XPro. Your midi drums sound pretty good so experiment with that because most of the Biab midi drum patterns were done by a real drummer on a midi drum kit.

Thanks Bob.

When I select "force MIDI drums" in the real DRums picker, it actually mutes the real drums but does not allow the Korg drums to kick in...

Have yourself a very happy New Year

Is the Korg in GM mode? If not you need to make sure the drum patch is transmitting on midi channel 10 because that's the GM channel for drums and Biab defaults to GM. However you can to into Opt/Preferences/Midi and change the midi channels to anything you want. This gets tricky which is why most of us don't do that, we just leave the Biab midi channel assignments to the default GM. You may need to dig into your Korg's manual and read about how to set it up for use with a computer.

Jean-Louis,

I've had a look at the manual for your keyboard and the Korg should have drums on midi channel 10 by default.

The "Force drums track to midi drums" is only useful if the Drums track contains underlying midi drums in the selected style. From a brief experiment that I just performed, it seems that some of the styles based on Realtracks do not have associated midi drums. It may be that one such style was loaded when you tested the midi drums.

To see if all is working properly, load a 100% midi style. These are styles that do not have _ or = or M_ as the leading character(s) in the the style's name.

Prior to loading such a style, though, you will need to disable the auto-substitute options found under "Prefs | Realtracks" and "Prefs | Realdrums" (see below).

Hope this helps,
Noel
