Has anyone heard from John after the wedding? I am pretty sure he posted about getting married and that is the last I remember.

If John is lucky, then the post about the wedding is the last thing he'll remember!
Getting married is a traumatic event. I wouldn't wish it upon anyone.

I messaged John last week and he didn't reply. I was hoping to get him on my road trip itinerary, because I'll be passing that way on the swingback.
There are some other activities John used to participate in, but he's no longer there either. If anybody hears from John. please let me know how you did it.
I have two phone numbers for him, and every time I try to call, they're both busy.

I finally got past the busy signal on one of John's phone numbers and was able to leave a message. I told him people on the forum have been asking about him. Who knows, maybe he'll check in or call me back.
But the fact that he has not responded to email and forum PM suggests to me that he might not even be online anymore. I can see how spending a lot of time online might be problematic in the context of a new marriage

Doing well. Just focusing on my mew life at the moment. New wife, step kids and grandchildren. Very exciting. I've just lost interest after 50 years of music. Time for something else. Happy New Year to all.

John,
I'm disappointed in your loss of interest, but thrilled at your new family life. I was remarried 16 months ago, so I definitely understand. I hope you'll check in periodically.
All the best,
Richard

John, i am so happy for you. We your friends that saw you you go through a lot of pain a while back, are glad to see you enjoying life. dive in and enjoy the love of a your family. Come back and say howdy once in a while, and we wish you the best. i took about a 8 month break from music and such. i started doing wood working again, began to learn the craft of locksmithing, and just cleared my head for a while. It was very good for me.

Great to hear from you John, and even happier to know things are going well for you. But cut out that crazy talk about not playing music anymore. Time takes care of everything my friend, with that said I'll go out on a limb and bet you that once again in your life, there will be a time when music climbs back up your priority list. Thanks for checking in John. Happy New Year!

I was dating a nice girl recently.. we were getting along great... the M word kept coming up in conversation... Then one morning I woke up and realized how much simpler life was ... ... when every decision didn't have to meet consensus ... when I didn't have to second guess every action to avoid criticism or guilt ... when I could eat at the restaurants *I* like ... when I could listen to *MY* music in the car ... when I didn't have to forego the road trip *I* want in order to take the trip SHE wants ... when I didn't have to do something else when I really wanted to go out for live music ... when I could be politically incorrect without fear of being politically corrected dodged that bullet. Happy again.

On really cold nights you could cuddle with ....... Hmm
When I'm sitting around the house and I decide to talk to someone about an issue that is puzzling me I can, hmmmm
When I watch a funny/thought provoking/intense movie, and I turn to share the moment with some one I can.
When I chose poorly on clothing I can just show up somewhere looking ridiculous! Okay that one is sketchy.
When I want to eat at a restaurant, and I sit alone I can ......
I love music, sports, and gold mining in the desert, but would trade any or all to spend time with my best friend. I guess I'm either lucky, or chose well, but my wife is my best friend. She loves my music, eats where I like at least 1/2 the time, and even goes gold mining with me. Just the other night she watch a basketball game with me.
I'm just saying I did the do everything's my way/for me thing it got old. Speaking of old, getting old alone sucks.

When I am cold, I have a dog to warm me. When I want to talk to someone, I text with them. With the movie thing, I don't watch movies. Choose poorly on clothing? How old are you? Are you colorblind? I have no issue sitting alone in restaurants. Now, for perspective on all of those, I was alone 20 years between wife #2 and wife #3, and 10 since wife #3. I do "alone" very well. Not everybody can say that. There is ONE day of the year I don't like it, and that day is Christmas. Christmas is a day for giving, and I have nobody to give to anymore. My best friend of 3 years and I have parted ways, and I felt that acutely this year when I didn't go to her house on Christmas night. I need to add, however, that not having to have someone in my house the other 364 days a year is worth that one lonely night. I LOVE female companionship, but after anything more than a couple of days I get like "Do you HAVE to do that breathing thing you do? In and out, in and out, in and out...... it NEVER STOPS!!!" You are truly a lucky one to have a spouse that compliments you so well. Hang on to her with every bit of energy it requires. You have something many envy.

point taken, Rob...
The difference is that you have been best friends for a long time. You grew into it together. Trying to recreate that same magic between two older people who are both set in their ways is a whole different animal.
If my wife were still alive, there would be no question about where my attention and focus would be. But she isn't.. and so the million dollar question is whether to simply accept and use the time and liberty I have left... (with no guarantee that there's much of it at all)... or trade that time and liberty for a relationship that may or may not be as satisfying as what I traded to get it.
I do value marriage, and if my original observation left you feeling judged, that wasn't my intent. My marriage lasted 38 years and it was the envy of everyone who knew us. I got married right out of high school and I've never had a time when I just lived the single life... until now.
Is it great? no... but I like it a LOT better than the senior dating scene.

Actually Pat, my wife and I are now going on 15 year, and both were married before so we both know good/ bad, happy/sad, right wrong. We took our time, did not rush things, did not live together. Build a real friendship first. Then start a lasting journey. It hasn't been easy at time we're both older, and more set in our ways.
We have a personal contract, we don't go to bed mad, we talk things out, and we try to put the others interest and needs first.
I was skeptical, but nothing ventured nothing gained. I love the scriptural thought, "the one isolating himself is seeking his own selfish long" I just don't do well alone. I enjoy sharing the joys of life with someone.
Oh and Eddie, I am not calling you selfish. Sounds like you have been through a lot my friend, and sometimes solitude brings peace of mind, especially after turmoil. But it is the ingredients of song writing
Pat 38 years is amazing. I envy that history, and legacy. That is something to be proud of, and hard to repeat.

John, your all-in examples of past line-array Bose L1 wannabe amp building as well as that bass that you made were and always will be inspiring to me.
I'm making my next set of near field monitors somewhat because of your example and meeting the Parts Express guys at Rocky Mountain Audio Fest this past year.
I want to make some time-aligned near-fields and it looks like the only way I can get this feature is to make them myself. A guy at work with an all-out wood-shop and quite a bit of cross-over design experience has offered to help me.
I'm looking forward to your next 'git-R-done' project.

I predict he will be back to music at some point. Everybody loses interest at some point. For me it was 16 years. In that time the business changed so much that I have no interest in performing live anymore. I am not going to scrape for gigs and be forced to play Brown Eyed Girl.
He'll be back at it in some capacity, maybe teaching the grandkids. It would be a great thing to have someone with the experience of the old Silver Toned Devil himself to teach them.
There are more ways to be involved with music than performing live, but nobody ever loses the bug completely.

actually, if it had changed much, you wouldn't be expected to play BROWN EYED GIRL, a song that was released in 1967.. 48 years ago!
