I'm considering upgrading from BIAB V10 to the latest. One reason is that I'd like better printouts, with 1st and 2nd endings, etc. Can someone point me to a PDF version of a song they've printed out with the latest version, so I can check it out?

Thanks!

Now that I've purchased BB2009, I can, for the benefit of others, show what the printouts look like. The first is what you get if you copy the screen preview to the clipboard. The second is an actual printout (via CutePDF).

I am disappointed with this function, since the first and second endings are not very noticeable.

One thing that would help here, is to set the Notation Window Options "chord vertical position" setting to about 8-10. Then the endings wouldn't be half-covered.

Is there even a way to create a PDF version? All I have been able to find is a JPG. I can always scan in the JPG, but that seems like a lot of extra work.

Hey Geetarman,

Yes, I´ve been making PDFs of my BIAB songs for years. Just download ¨PDF Creator.

I´m sure there are others, but this program works great for me. When getting ready to make your PDF, choose Print, use the dropdown menu to choose PDF Creator instead of your Printer.......thats it, short, sweet and effective!

Hope that helps,
Ed

Thanks. I have an option like that on my PC at work, but not at home. At first I thought it might "be there" because I have Adobe. I'll look up your suggestion and give it a try.

Another free PDF printer is CutePDF, which Trombone Al used above. For anyone not familiar, once you install either of these programs, they add another choice to your printer menu. The resulting PDF file is much smaller than a scanned JPG file.

Al, I've been writing out band charts by hand for over 30 years so making a few corrections with a sharpie is nothing. Just lay out the tune exactly as you're showing it but without any repeats, codas or anything else, then print it and put them in by hand. The song won't play right when you do this, but this trick is just to create the chart. When I first started using Biab for this I was breaking my head about it too, writing questions in the forum and stuff. I finally realized, I can write those things in like 30 seconds or so. I know it would be nice if Biab had more options for this but consider dedicated notation software costs like $3-500. To even have what we have included for free is pretty good.
I totally understand that this negates the elegance of having the program do it right in the first place so you can simply create a pdf to email to someone. If you really need that, you can create a pdf from a scanner. For me, I just show up at a rehearsal and hand em out.

Bob
