Does BIAB 2015 have a way to group multiple rest measures together into one measure when printing from the Notation Page? I have a 5 page song when printed that could be reduced to three pages if BIAB groups rests. I thought I saw a video on this an now cannot find it nor can I find any information in forums or documenation. (I am sure that I am missing a radial button or box in the programming somewhere). Any assistance would be appreciated! Thanks to all. Mark [img:left] http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=mult...electedIndex=33[/img]

Besides printing single pages by providing the starting bar, chorus, and how many bars in the Print Range, Custom dialog, I don't know.

Hi Mark, As far as I'm aware, this is not possible in BIAB. From a music writing perspective, BIAB/RB is at its best when writing lead sheets. It is not a fully comprehensive notation program. I use BIAB for notation a great deal. Sometimes, though, when I need more sophisticated techniques, I use Musescore. Musescore is a fully fledged, freeware notation program that has a limited ability to read BIAB's mgu/sgu files. If you're interested, it can be found at ... http://musescore.org/There are a number of videos on Youtube that explain how to use it to the best of its ability. Regards, Noel

Thanks guys for the replies.
Noel, I do have Musescore already loaded on my PC, however; never really thought of using it to print out the music that I play. Will have to investigate this more.
Thanks again !!!

Marcus, the feature you are looking for is called "Compressed Rests" in some music software. Finale calls it "Multimeasure Rest".
Musescore is still the only notation program, to my knowledge, that reads BIAB SGU and MGU files directly, as Noel said. I've found it a bit buggy but it may do the job for you. Interestingly, from Musescore, you can then save a file as Music XML and take that into one of the more standard notation programs like Finale or Sibelius. Doing so preserves the chord information throughout. Problem is, it's still pretty buggy to do this. Someday...

Awesome stuff, Matt. Thanks for the tip regarding importing BIAB files directly into Musescore. I will have to try it when I get home this evening. I will also see what Mobilesheets can do for me as well. That is a pretty neat program also.
Thanks again !!!

I suspect (but could be wrong) that the a lot of bugginess in the MuseScore capability to read BIAB files is the result of implementing this in the pre-RealDrums / RealTracks / SuperMIDITracks / Hi-Q MIDI days, and it probably hasn't been updated for those SGU/MGU file format changes. But I'm just speculating.
But, just the fact that it's there is pretty cool; that means there must have been a BIAB proponent on the requirements (and possibly the coding) team.

As if I haven't said this before, what I think would solve this best is for BIAB to output Music XML. That way, BIAB does not have to worry about the difficulty of producing notation; instead, you take your song directly, including chords, into a program that specializes in notation. Since some of those are free, it shouldn't be a hindrance to any of us.
The thing is, we are already close. BIAB now outputs the melody in MUSIC XML to the voice synth, Sinsy.
And we are not alone here at BIAB. On the Cakewalk forum (Cakewalk makes SONAR), we have asked for a decade that SONAR should improve its music notation view. I guess it's time to give up on that, and hope that they would also output Music XML.

+1 for music XML. We need a notation process that isn't DOS based.

May I suggest trying the V2 beta version of Musescore? It seems solid, and hasn't crashed on me, and its interface and overall operation is better than V1 IMHO.
