I have a lead vocal track on a song that I copied, and added to another track to extract the chorus parts only. That done, I copied the chorus track and pasted it into the next track down so that I could pan the chorus parts right and left with the lead vocal in the middle. What I got from the second chorus track (an unedited copy of the first) was a "chipmunk" vocal. The chorus tracks are identical. There are no differences in either track other than how they sound. What have I done wrong?

Hi Sonny.
I've had the same thing happen, but only when I put an effect on the channel insert of the pasted track. It didn't make any difference what effect I put on, the audio would appear to move either up or down by about an octave. Removing the track insert returned the track to normal.
I managed to come up with a work-around by copying the audio to a new track and removing the old one. Sometimes it was necessary to save the track as a wav file and then remove the old track and import the file to a new one.
I know that this doesn't explain what's going on, but I hope it helps.

I tried again today and everything worked fine. Thanks for taking the time to send your advice.
I'd forgotten the silly charm of chipmunk singing - Alvin and his gang - it just didn't work in my song.
