I recently restored my PC to factory condition, so installed my BB 2012.5 fresh. I have several older version disks and some styles disks. How can I install the styles from those disks? Thanks much!

Don't know an easy way since old styles will overwrite new styles of the same name. And you may not want that. This is why it is always recommended to install new version "over" the old versions. This why the new is added into the old.
Otherwise, you can look for a utility which will do a comparison of both new and old directories and ID the styles are not in the new directory. Then you can copy and past them from the old to the new.
good luck

You can always create a new folder, put the old styles in there, then move them into the BB folder. Windows should tell you if they are the same date and/or size, if they aren't you can re-name the one you are dragging.

Thanks much guys. I had completely forgotten that styles were just individual files in "styles" folders. I've now done that on the ones I could find. I'm thinking that some of the styles came embedded in some of the installation files on the program disks. If so, I don't know how to get them off of the disks without doing an actual install. Anyone know if that is the case and how to do so?
Thanks much.

Quite simple answer to this question: No easy solution available. The easiest and fastest solution is:
Step 1. Make a backup of your current installation, purely for state of mind soothing reasons.
Step 2. Install your old disks to a new folder, if you have, that is preferred, on a second computer. Then you can duplicate everything like drive, folder, and any other computer related setting. (There are some files BIAB uses to figure out where to install and find stuff. If you use a "different location" like a different drive name or folder name, unexpected behaviour could help you find some unexpected behaviour.)
Step 3. Copy your current installation over the new installation. Overwrite any duplicate file names. You should now have all old files and all current files in a current state.
Step 4. Test it, if it is o.k. just copy the modified current version to where your BIAB usually resides. Remember step 1, you still have a backup, if you encounter difficulties.
Best practices 1: What I do is: I do have an external USB drive solely for backup purposes. I copy all my music files and music related software to that drive. Software is copied to that drive before I install it. This drive has no other purpose. I do have, btw, another similar drive, that is used for regular weekly backups. So I have at least two valid backups available.
Best practices 2: Install any new BIAB version onto your current installation -- unless PGMusic provides a different instruction.

Thanks, GHinCH. I think you are right, installing is probably the only way. I do have an older XP machine and I think I will install there using my oldest Windows version CD (my first versions were DOS) and upgrading through all of them. It really won't take too long. I think I should be able to just copy all the styles folders to my current installation on Win 7/64 and use them from there shouldn't I?
Thanks all - derailer

I wouldn't copy older files onto newer ones. That's the reason I said, install the old ones and then copy the newest over that installation. You never know if PGMusic has fixed a bug here and there.

Sure, I will always keep the newer file. Thanks for the caution.
