//RETIRED? WHAT INTERESTING THINGS ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR TIME...?// Well, let's see..... Cement work at the front of the house, repairing exterior doors, replacing dripping faucets, repairing toilets that either doesn't flush correctly or runs most of the time, keeping vehicles running, diddling with invention projects, running our tax business, cutting grass, trimming and edging, picking up limbs, raking leaves, repairing roofs, operating an ever expanding music studio, school classes, keeping all the computers up and running, etc., etc. Sheesh!!! I wish I could give up this retirement and go back to taking it easy at work.

I'm sort of like you Kajun. You mentioned your tax business. I'm an Enrolled Agent and work at a CPA firm with about 1200 clients. I'm the go to guy in the office for all the state and federal notices. I'll also turn 70 this November and have no intentions of retiring any time soon.
Years ago I would dream about early retirement like everybody else but now that I'm there I've discovered I'm a type A workaholic type. If I don't have something real to do I go nuts. By real I mean something that someone else is depending on me to do.
People hate dealing with the IRS and when I fix whatever their problem is they're very grateful and that's very gratifying to me. I've handled cases that involve $800 and I've handled cases involving close to a million dollars in taxes and penalties plus identify theft, plus ITIN's, plus state issues from New York to California. I'm pretty busy on occasion.
Late in the year when things slow up a bit I might have a 4 day weekend. The first two days I have stuff to do, the third day I've done it and I'm getting antsy. By the 4th day I'm sitting around thinking so this is what retirement might look like. No thanks.
We'll go down to Puerto Vallarta and she'll stay for two weeks I'll come home after 7 or 8 days because I have stuff to do, you know?

Strangely enough, since and even a bit before retiring from full time work I am no longer doing much musically as I have so many other things on the go.
I am a bit of a computer geek and spend quite some time on computer help forums helping folks with their computer woes.
I am also still doing small engineering projects for fun now, when I used to be paid to do it, and recently started on sorting out and improving my home engineering workshop.
Tied up also with general home improvements, as in repairs to walls or even a full rebuild, decorating etc.
I might be retired, but busy enough to be not bored and I can now do what I want to do, not what a wage payer says I have to do.

I retired Sept. of 2013. My former boss said "yeah, that's really funny". I have worked full time contracted to the same company every since. Someday I plan to retire!
On the up side, I do have the flexibility to cherry pick the projects that I work on, I work frequently at home and don't have to be in Houston every week, and if I wake up and decide I don't want to work - I don't.

I worked 40 years for GM and have been retired for 20. Time does fly, doesn't it? Between my wife and myself, doctor visits are becoming more and more frequent. However, we've thankful for being on the right side of the grass. I do write a weekly gospel devotional and have been doing some gospel sets at StreetJelly.Com/espono. Not exactly setting the woods on fire but having a ball none the less. Don S.

Amen to the right side of the grass. I had a colonoscopy last week and the 3 small polyps they found were benign. Next is the eye doctor, then the ortho guy to talk about a new knee, and then a urologist to talk about a new.... well, maybe not new, but hopefully a performance upgrade.

Retired from teaching school music/band 14 yrs ago.
My first grandchild was born 6 months later and I had a wonderful time babysitting her a couple of days a week until she began school. Her brother soon followed.
Try to golf twice a week, which in northern CA is very doable.
Musically I have been playing with trio and using BIAB for solo performances. That usually amounts to 6-8 gigs a month.
And oh yes those doctor appointments do occupy more and more time although I feel great at 73.

Ha ha, I can relate to that...and right now in the middle of tax season I could use a little retirement because things get overwhelming but I'll be chillin in less than a month then it's back to maybe 3-4 days a week.

Off to a wiener roast and sing-along on our last night in this RV Resort in AZ. It's still 82F so won't need a jacket.
Heading home to Canada tomorrow, and will take about a week to get there.
Hope they have warmer weather by then.
Gonna winterize the motorhome in Utah just in case <grin>.
