Finally I can work from BIAB to my DAWs with ease.

Generate multitrack renderings then dragging into your favorite DAW to experiment with changing tempos or even tempo mapping your song to a live performance works like a breeze now that the files have the rendered tempo.

The added bonus is it a piece of cake to make your own loops out of custom made BIAB sections!

Thanks

Studio One (latest version), Win 11 23H2 , i9 -10940X 3.3 GHz, 32GB Mem, a 4K 40" monitor, PreSonus Studio Live III Console as interface/controller. secondarily test on Reaper, Cakewalk, and S1 on Surface Pro 3 Win 10 (latest versions).

A special thank you to you Jeff for helping us out to get this feature working with various DAWS.

This looks like a great feature added to Build 417.

Would someone who understands this better than I do, please confirm or explain a few things about these files? I think an "acidized" file is a .WAV file with 'extra' info added that allows it to respond to certain programs (originally SONY Acid) and follow tempo and/or key changes. Such programs use these acidized files as loops.

But how does one create such a file, if you don't use the new BIAB feature?

The reason I ask is that I do not render my BIAB files to .WAV. As far as I know, it is not possible to render when using an external (hardware) MIDI synth (mine is a Roland Integra-7). The only way to make a BIAB song, played with an external synth, into a .WAV file is to route the output back to a recorder and record the song playing in real time.

Do I have all that correct?

Is there documentation or a video somewhere on how to do this stuff...especially the making of loops out of BIAB sections?

I think you are right, Matt, but if you do record the MIDI output through your external unit to a WAV file, you can bring it into RealBand, and from there save it back out as an acidized WAV file.

Also Matt
MIDI files created by BIAB will already follow tempo changes in a DAW. In your case the external device will follow changes to the MIDI data from the DAW.
If you also used Realtracks in the song and drag those out as wav files they will now drop into the DAW with the tempo data and you should be able to then make further changes to the tempo in the DAW and both the MIDI and Realtrack renderings will follow correctly together.

How I typically use it is to develop the song in BIAB then play the song with my own performance either with or without the BIAB files in the DAW then map my natural tempo to the Realtracks thus the BIAB musicians follow me perfectly.

Here is a video of me doing that prior to the patch. I manually set the Realtrack tempos for it to work, now it's automatic.

Hope that helps people see the possibilities.

Thanks guys. I'm good with MIDI and the DAW (rhymes with Turkey in the Straw, if anyone's looking for song ideas).

I think John gave me the answer I needed: RealBand can create an acidized file.
