Does anyone know if it's possible to change your name on here?

I haven't been here that long, but in that short time I've noticed a few times people mocking the name I have chosen. I get people have different views, but to make it seem like I'm not hearing them just because I don't agree with them so they throw the name thing in sarcastically, could get really old in the long run.

So, since I do plan on sticking around, I was considering "squashing the monster when it's small."

thanks!

I have, for different reasons, wondered the same thing, and in particular whether it can be done while keeping everything else the same (status, enrollment date, and number of posts). I am very interested in the answer.

Exactly. I shall wait to see answers. If nothing else, I can ask PG directly.

Bud (of "Janice & Bud") changed their name - or had it changed - he said he "request it and they agreed". I know all his previous posts converted to the new name.

He also said he still has to use the old one to log in... So they simply change your displayed name.

You can change your forum name under My Stuff - Profile. The change needs to be approved by the forum moderator, and it takes a day or so.

Thanks Peter! That is about as official answer as I could hope for!

BTW, it's so great to see that PG cares enough about it's customers to be involved at this level. I love the products, and the people too!

Thanks again!

Now, what would I change it to...

Personally I like your tag. It's pithy and appropriate. A true expert is always learning

I like it to, and I guess can keep it for now. If it does get to be a problem, I can always change it.

It does serve as a reminder to me.

Thanks for the feedback! smile

This is a great point, and one I've wondered about also.
When I joined the forum, I used the same name that I used in another Video Editing and Production forum (how would you guess...).

After a while, I always thought I should have called it Audio Track. I'll give that some more thought.

I also like your name, and anyone mocking it clearly doesn't have anything of value to contribute anyway, so you can always block 'em.

I'm sure you've heard this old folk story about a man, his son and their donkey:
http://www.pitt.edu/~dash/type1215.html#aesop

That timeless story does a great job of illustrating why it's pointless to change one's behaviour because of criticism from people who are not invested in your purposes and reasoning.

Personal choice and individual goals don't tend to result in "one size fits all" behaviour, yet people tend to judge as though their own choices and reasoning are the standard by which the world should be judged. Buying into that logic only encourages more of the same.

Very cool! Thanks for that. I haven't used the block feature yet. I'm thinking I should maybe start.

Thanks! smile

Talk about strange, my wife just read me this story this week from a book she reading. I had never heard it before. Going from never having heard it before, to having it brought to my attention twice in one week...crazy!

I showed her your post, and she was happy you posted this too!

Thanks for the confirmation!

Yikes! Well said, and gives me resolve. You make great points Pat! I wasn't thinking I was hungry, but you always give me food for thought!

Thanks friend! smile

Looking at the equipment you have listed, I think once you are at the "audiophile addition" of BIAB...yeah, I see where you are coming from. lol grin

Your forum name is clever in two ways. 1. in its intended sense, listen and learn and 2. in the homophonic sense Here to Learn.

There are always people who don't understand and refuse to change their perception.
