I'm running BIAB for Mac 2010.5 build 20 on a Mac mini with Yosemite OS. When I audio render my real tracks tunes the resulting AIFF files have errors composed of dead spots and sometimes the entire audio dropping out to complete silence. Anyone else experience these errors, or know how to fix this?

dkm,

I've definitely experienced the same thing. The best solution I've found is to drag and drop my BIAB project to Logic (or Garageband should work) and do any rendering from there...

Bruce,

Yes, I can successfully drag tracks into Garageband and make audio files that way, but it takes about 5 to 10 times as long, so I'd really like to get the audio rendering working. I have a lot of files to make so I can put them on my iPad to work with iGigbook. I play standards on classical guitar, so I'm wanting to get my set lists with matching upright bass and drum tracks so I can do a Charlie Byrd type trio sound with real tracks backing for my solo performances. I just got off the line (live chat) with Chase who confirmed that the support team will help me with this. Apparently there are settings within the audio driver that have to be tweaked (or something). I had emailed support a couple of days ago and never got a reply. When Chase checked it seems that email never arrived. Go figure. Maybe they've blocked the host of my domain as spam or something. Anyway, they got the email I sent from work (where I am now) and promised a quick reply. I hope they will deliver as promised. What I don't understand is if this is a common issue (or an issue at all, which your similar experience seems to indicate) why haven't they published an article about it in their knowledge base? I couldn't find anything about this searching either the help files, the knowledge base, or this forum, which is why I started my own thread. If they solve the problem I will post the solution here. Cheers.

Just wanted to post an update on this issue. The suggestions from Kent at support was to:
1. Reset BIAB to default settings by deleting everything in the Preferences folder.
2. Run BIAB from the EverythingPAK drive rather than from the installation on my computer.
After doing 1 & 2 and testing it out (as well as trying to render to WAVE and Ma4 as well as AIFF) the rendered files still had the same errors. Then for giggles I tried running BIAB by plugging the EverythingPAK drive into my older Macbook with OSX 10.5.8. My first 3 test renders returned files with no errors and I thought I was home free. But the fourth test had the same sort of errors. So for now, since I really need to get usable audio files done, I have gone to the tedious work around of dragging the tracks into Garageband and making them there. At least it works. I would still like to get this issue addressed, so I’ll let Kent know the results of my tests. Here’s hoping they can come up with a resolution short of me upgrading my version of BIAB…which I simply can’t afford to do right now.

Thanks for your update. I'd be cautious that updating BIAB will fix this. I'm running 2014 version of BIAB, and I think I still have this occur (although maybe I've just become so accustomed to dragging and dropping everything into Logic, that I just never try to render from BIAB).

Well, things have gone from bad to worse. Now I'm getting drop out errors in tracks that are rendered in DAW mode and dragged into Garageband. Creating backing tracks with real tracks is the primary reason I use BIAB anymore. If it's no good for that--what's the point?

OK, never mind about that last post. The drop out I was experiencing in DAW mode was due to this tune file being a copy of a previous version in which I had muted the bass on the 3rd chorus for a bass solo on the soloist track. Once I remembered that and unmuted the track on that 3rd chorus in rendered as expected in DAW mode.

Hi folks,
did you get a solution for that from support.
I have just updated from 2013 to the the new MAC version 2015 and installed the new build 102.
Nothing helped I experience a lot of drop outs also from songs with older real tracks that were
running very fine with 2013.
DAW mode and Garageband was not a solution for me. I see there the dropped tracks as flat lines without sound. Some of them have little peaks for tho measure and then quiet again.
Thanks,
Matthias

This may or may not help: It was discovered during beta phase that leaving the "Normalize" option on would cause erratic problems with audio rendering.

So start by turning that option OFF before attempting to render to audio in BBox '15 on the Mac.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should!

No, Matthias, I did not get a solution from support. I finally abandoned my attempts, bit the bullet and created everything in GarageBand by importing the separate tracks in via the DAW tool. The track sound good this way, but I find it quite difficult to play consistently with them this way as it's so easy to get lost in the tune. I've since upgraded to BIAB 2015 for Mac, and installed BIAB for iPhone on my iPhone 6 plus, then created all new m4a files with the intention of installing everything on my iPhone to play through the app which will display the chord changes which highlight as it moves through the tune--just like the desktop version. This way if I lose my place I can quickly find out where I am in the tune. The problem is I've only been able to download one single tune to the phone. But whenever I try to download anymore as soon as I press the final "save" to the root folder the app almost immediately crashes and shuts down. This happens whether I'm trying to download from the Mac itself through the ip address on Safari, or Dropbox, or Google Drive. I've tried rebooting the phone several times, but it makes no difference. I'm about ready to abandon this and simply start bringing my laptop and the EverythingPAK drive to the gig. At least that works. I posted all this yesterday morning in the forum on other PG Music applications but have gotten no response. This is all turning out to be very disappointing.

Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!

Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.

Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.

Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!
