I've RB 2015 band when I import a MIDI file it shows up as one track in RB. Is there a simple way to convert this multiple tracks sequence in to separate tracks? Sorry if this is a newbie question, Andrew

Hi Andrew, Welcome to the forum. Because your post is in the Band In A Box forum, I'm not quite sure if you mean this program or Realband (RB is something I use for Realband and it has its own forum). Just in case, I'll cover both applications... BIAB If you load a midi into BIAB, it will load onto either the Melody or the Soloist track as a multitrack midi file. This is normal. RB This is much more versatile when working with midi. When I load a midi file into RB, it automatically loads onto different tracks - one for each midi channel. This makes me wonder if the format of your midi file is such that it's only available as a single track. To get others commenting on this, it would be a good idea to post your question in the Realband forum. Regards, Noel

Hi Andrew, Welcome to the forum. This is much more versatile when working with midi. When I load a midi file into RB, it automatically loads onto different tracks - one for each midi channel. This makes me wonder if the format of your midi file is such that it's only available as a single track. To get others commenting on this, it would be a good idea to post your question in the Realband forum. Regards, Noel A Format 0 file (Midi 0) contains a single track and represents a single song performance. Format 1 (Midi 1) may contain any number of tracks, enabling preservation of the sequencer track structure, and also represents a single song performance. Format 2 (Midi 2) may have any number of tracks, each representing a separate song performance. I have never come across a MIDI format 2 file but it is very easy to change a format 0 file to a format 1 file and visa-versa. Here is a free midi file converter: http://www.afreecodec.com/windows/midi-file-format-converter-545.html#xNote that I have never used this program as I can easily convert MIDI file formats in Sonar. Welcome to the forums and I hope this helps. If the file is indeed a format 0 file and you are having problems converting it feel free to send it to me and I will convert it for you.
