I'm working on a piece in which the head is 14 bars, and I've unfolded to 5 choruses i.e. total 70 bars.
I want a marked change of style at bar 15 - no problem. Except that I also prefer Real Drums, and I get a message when leaving Bar Settings that because Real Drums are enabled, there will be no change of style. If I go back to Midi Drums, there's no problem, but I think the Real Drums would be far preferable for the second style, which holds for bars 15 - 70. The midi drums are 'OK' for the head, if push comes to shove.
Can this circle be squared within a Biab arrangement i.e. without getting into recording/splicing a separate audio track for the drums ?
(I'm in 2008.5, by the way).

Hello Ian,
That's strange, you should be able to change RealDrums styles in your song using the bar settings window. Maybe go into the RealDrums preferences dialog and make sure "enable RealDrums style changes" is checked?

Thankyou for your reply.
I've been two routes on the basis of what you say:
a. Opt>Pref>Real Drums>Real Drums Settings
b. Real Drums button>Real Drums Settings
The Real Drums Settings window I get to either way seems to be identical, and I can't see the check option you're referring to. I could post a screen dump if it would help ?

Thanks for that - it's clear enough.
Except that above the Play and Stop buttons, and below the 'For this song only, use this Real Drum style', I've just got unbroken battleship grey. And I've tried restoring factory settings since reading your post.

It sounds like RealDrums are not enabled. Enable in RealDrum settings. Also, check in File|Save Song with patches & harmony. If 'For this song only, force Midi drums' is checked the RealDrums will be disabled.

It sounds like you might be running an earlier version (than 2008.5). Check Help-About Band-in-a-Box to confirm...

No, it's all enabled. RD is my default choice for percussion. Please see next !

I must apologise - I think I've been confused about 'update' as opposed to 'upgrade', and have got the numbers wrong. I know I downloaded 'something' in Dec. 08, but you're right - it must have been the 2007.5 update.
Am now looking at order list !
Andrew - while I have your attention: I wonder if you could make any comment on another thread I have open :'Enabling sttyle temo' ?

PS To anyone interested in the main point of this thread: I think (think) I've found I can make the switch I described earlier, even in 2007.5, if style (1) is Midi drums and style (2) is real drums.

So, RealDrums can change with a Style change in a song but not RealTracks?
