I spent hours working on a song. I got the music done and added the lyrics. I had the lyrics how I wanted them. Now I just added some bars to create a repeat of the chorus. Then did the copy from...to... When I clicked ok, it messed up the lyrics completely. Almost all of the lyrics are missing and the lyrics I had at the end are now at the front and all the other lyrics except for the last several bars are gone. How can I recover it? I went to edit and undo copy from...to... but that didn't seem to do anything. It's still missing the lyrics and is messed up. Is there a way to reset it to before I added the bars? It was fine then. Please help. I would love to get the song finished tonight since I spent most of the day working on it.

Sorry about that. You should get into the habit of saving your song in stages. That way, when something goes awry, you can load your last saved edit and carry on from there. Make sure to give each save a new filename like, mysong1, mysong 2 etc.
I use a special folder and location for my personal Biab songs as well.
Maybe one of the support staff can help out with a way to recover your song? I hoped the edit/undo would have worked for you.

Good advice from Trax.
I don't use the lyrics in BIAB much so I can't give good advice, but in general in all music programs I've tried, I always get the structure of the song correct before adding any text.
As suggested, call PG Music Support, though, before doing anything else on the song, just in case they can find a way to recover your work. Don't turn off the computer or exit BIAB until you've called.

I just emailed support, but would love to get the lyrics back so I can get the song finished tonight. I was hoping that undo would fix it too, but it didn't seem to do anything. I redid the lyrics and saved it several times. I got finished and went to add measures and when I added them the lyrics were messed up again (some missing and in the wrong places). I closed out Band In A Box without saving again because the last save had the lyrics the way I wanted them and opened it again, opened the song I had saved (I had clicked on save as and chose the song title when I saved it) and it was messed up again just like it was after I had added the measures, even though the last time I saved it the lyrics were correct (not messed up like that at all). I have no idea why it would have done that. I would have thought the saved one would have been fine.

Hi Rebecca0630
Welcome to the Forum
As mentioned, you'll get some great advice and lots of assistance from the team here
It seems you are really jumping straight into the deep end. Sometimes small steps will work better. We want you to have a successful and rewarding experience with BiaB. Little experiments, frequent checks, and step-by-step progress may be a better option.
The program itself is extremely feature rich (that's actually an understatement), and has been developed over many, many years.
We all have a learning curve. Practice with something a little less complex and you'll be fine. However, don't give up because of frustration. There's lots of great support both here and with the PGM team, but a tiny bit of patience will go a long way to fabulous success.

Shut the computer completely off. Do a cold boot and then reopen the BB program and load the song.
This should take you back to the last version you saved properly.
AT times I have to do this because as you mentioned, things get all twisted around from some sort of internal digital glitch. When that happens, I shut down and restart. 98% of the time that fixes the issue. The other 2%...well, you just start over and rebuild the project vowing to save it more often "this time".
edit: I try not to cry over the spilled milk as the saying goes. I look at it this way...even with my guitar playing and vocal takes, when recording solo's and other tracks. If I did it once, I can do it a second or third time, and I can do it better this time than I did the first time..... so I really don't sweat the lost tracks and accidentally deleted stuff and the glitches that cause the whole project to disappear into the vapors that are the digital realm.

Rebecca, I have notated many melodies with lyrics in BIAB. And every once in a while, I have come across a problem similar to the one you describe. To date, I have not been able to isolate what causes it. I have a feeling that it's related to the 'copy from...to' command. It seems to occur when notes already exist in the section where music is being copied to. It also seems to occur when 'copy to...from' has been used a number of times. When it has happened, I save the song with a different name and close and reopen BIAB. I don't have a solution for you. What I do is what Trax above suggests. When I have a section of the song working like I want it to, I save it with a new file name. Then, if things play up, I can always go back to my previous version of the song and work from there. By the time I've finished creating a song, I've usually got around a dozen versions saved. In your case, the only answer seems to be to re-enter the lyrics. From my experience, that won't take as long as you suspect it might. All the best, Noel

I have tried redoing the song 4 times now and the same thing happens every time. This time I just saved the song after I finished it and had it the way I wanted it. Then almost all the lyrics were missing and the last ones I entered were at the beginning and part of the lyrics from the middle of the song was after that with the rest missing. Every time I get the song finished and save it does this. When I open my last saved file it is still like this with the lyrics missing and what is there rearranged. I just reopened a previous version I had saved and the song is rearranged and the whole beginning is missing (music and lyrics). It looks like nearly all the lyrics are there, just rearranged and the first verse is gone. How can I get it back in the correct order and add the beginning again? This is a sample song I am working with and editing. I know I may be jumping in too much at once, but I just wanted to take a sample song and try editing it a bit and adding my lyrics.

You might want to be sure you have the latest updates and bug fixes installed. Then try it again.
In a case like this, you might want to print the lyrics and chords once you get it back together.
I would also try not loading the file.... start a whole new project and with BB, it's really easy to get back to where you were if you are entering the chords from a piece of paper that you printed. You can copy the lyrics to a word processor and then back into the new project.
Sometimes a project gets corrupted and it will never work right after that so starting over is the only reasonable solution.
I have had things happen that corrupted files before. Most of the time, a cold boot sets things right, but there was one incidence that required me to start a new project and then delete the old one from the machine.
A call to support seems like it might be useful as well if this continues into a new project.

Don't know if this is your problem, but if you have a song that is NOT unfolded (one big song), but has repeats, you have to be very careful to make sure your lyrics are associated with the proper verse. Also, if you add any new bars in the middle of a song, your lyrics are going to start having gaps in them.
Have you tried opening the song, going into Staff Roll Notation Mode, selecting the melody track, then clicking the "#" button (to bring up the event list) and filtering on lyrics to see if your lyrics are still there? This view will show you the lyrics based on MIDI position.
I will often copy all my lyrics first into the Lyric Document window. That way I've got the whole thing that can then be used to copy/paste if necessary.
Also, have you tried the command, "Lyrics, Copy Lyrics to Clipboard": This function allows you to copy a song's lyrics (and/or the chords) to the Standard Windows Clipboard. By pasting this data into a word processor, you can print out the lyrics in the font of your choice. The dialog has options to allow copying of note-based and/or line-based lyrics.
Don't know if any of this will help you, but may give you some places to look and maybe find your missing lyrics.
