A few years back I bought a ketron SD2 midi module based on all the good reviews it got here on this site.I liked it quite a bit.
But yesterday it died. The lights are on and flickering along with the midi file but no sound. Not out of the line out nor out of the headphone out.
So I tried to find the company website but it seems to be gone.
Are they still in business? Is there anything it can do to bring it back to life? Is there anybody who can repair these things?

Try www.ketron.it

It looks like the www.ketron.com (which was billed as Ketron USA) has gone away.

When you get to the Italian site, you can click on the appropriate flag to get different languages.

If you haven't figured it out, Ketron is an Italian company.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for pointing that out for me. I found the e-mail for their support guy in the US on the site and I wrote him an e-mail. The Ketron really did sound nice and I sure hope it can be repaired.. I never moved it out of my room so if it is toast I probably won't buy another one. They are not THAT cheap. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

A domain expired.
That doesn't necessarily mean they are done. It may mean their web team stinks.

The domain expired yesterday (likely shut down at midnight). Someone needs to pay the registrar. I doubt a $10 domain registration isn't the bill they chose not to pay to make ends meet.. yet keep the other sites up. I know they've been quiet lately and John may be right, but I'm just pointing out this wouldn't be confirmation for me.
I expected to see an announcement on the .it site. Did I miss something? To me it just looks like an oversight.

Thanks for the info,
I already sent out a message to Ajam Inc a few days ago. No reply so far. Maybe I'll try the canadian distributor if I don't hear anything in the next week.

This a daft suggestion but one which gave me pause once using Ketron SB2. Is the volume control slider at full volume????

I said it was daft.

I'm not sure but a CC7, the MIDI volume control, would lower it. It would also raise it to the units maximum volume or anywhere in between.

Get some good contact cleaner (DeoxIT) and clean the jacks on the unit. Just spray on the plugs and run in and out of the jacks a couple of times. Then, check your cables.

Since the unit is receiving signal and it's not getting out, that's where I would start.
May be something as simple as a bad cable or a dirty jack.

Or even try sending a GM reset message to it via MIDI .. never know. Some SysEx message could have changed a setting or even a CC message.
Is there a reset process for the synth?
