G'day pwarren, hmm, ASIO4ALL doesn't like sharing much... I recently wrote a "dummies guide" as an exercise in learning more about VST as I had no experience with it at all and was: a) curious and b) frustrated with the lack of basic information available for those without VST enabled software. I suspect this has happened to you who upgraded to BIAB2009 WITH the REALBAND
I suspect that the REALBAND is the "other program" using the Midi
I sort of verified this by loading and running realband at the same time.
I no longer have the "used by another" error, when I loaded and ran REALBAND in the background while Im using BIAB 2009.
Therefore, temporary solution is, while using BIAB 2009, try to load REALBAND and let it stay in the background doing nothing. The MIDI is then released bec I suspect both BIAB and REALBAND cooperate with each other on the ownership and possession of the midi driver
Try it.

I did the same thing (VSC) for the same reason (avoid MSGW table)
And I had the same problem (Real Tracks now activted, not shwng, silent sounds when recorded to wav)
pls post here any resolution you find.

Can you send in a sample .MGU or .SGU file to support@pgmusic.com with a reference to this forum post? Also include in your email the exact build you have installed under Help-About Band-in-a-Box, and the date/time of that ST2 and XT2 file (right-click on file and select properties).

Ok Andrew. I'll send one along tonight when I finish work. I suspect it won't help though as I believe the problem isn't in the song file. I've been wrong before though.

Just to add to the data bank here- I`m using VISTA on a PC - same problem- deleting/renaming DLS file (and restart) was of no help. My problem started after installing demo forte .
