hey folks,

trying to do a fun project, but ran into a little snag

I picked a midi style that had no real tracks and created a song,
I copied the midi's into flstudio, and applied differents synths to them...so far so good and that part sounds good,

next using that same song and style, I generated some real tracks,
and went to add those in a a later point in the song in flstudio...here's where it gets weird...

I noticed there was the 2 bar lead in count then a small period of time before the real tracks start. i can edit out the 2 measures, but for the life of me cannot remove that small space of time. it becomes annoying when say I want the real track to pick up right when the midi stops...right now there is a small gap between the 2... I am going to try a work around and have the real tracks do another chorus, then edit them and remove the first chorus...If that doesn't work, then I am outta luck....I even tried removing the 2 measure lead in count in preferences, but when I exported the real track, the wave file still had the 2 count in measures there but empty space where the count would be just no count, and that small space of time is still there ... I don't have this problem with midi, just real tracks..

any help would be appreciated......

bostonx,

If this was my problem (I use Reaper), I'd try the following...

1. nudging the RT left so that it aligns properly with where I want it to start (this may or may not work as it could throw other alignments out of kilter)

2. insert a couple of stretch markers and stretch the audio file so that the beginning of the track aligns as I want it

Hope this helps in some way.

Regards,
Noel

In a DAW, that would be no problem to fix. You can drag audio and midi along the time line as well as using nudge to fine tune it into the exact position you need.

OK, seems like a simple fix in the DAW, but.... I have not experienced this happening in BIAB. I move midi and audio out of the box to my DAW a lot, and no such issues. Something must be wrong with the box or in your DAW. Have you tried to reset BIAB to factory settings? Or is it just some specific RT's which have the fault?

When you use the multi riff feature in RealBand you can select how many ticks before a measure begins or ends the multi riff can extend. The value of each tick is dependent on the midi resolution. This allows the RealTrack to blend with what comes before or after the multi riff and is useful when using a mixture of midi and RealTrack or when changing between a background to solo RealTrack.

You might want to give the multi riff feature in RealBand a try.

>> I noticed there was the 2 bar lead in count then a small period of time before the real tracks start.

There shouldn't be any space after the 2 bar lead-in before RealTracks start. Possible causes for this would include:

1. Did you drag/drop the tracks to the very start of the track in your DAW? If it wasn't dropped to the beginning, there could be a gap.

2. Is the tempo of the RealTracks WAV file the same as the tempo in your DAW - if it wasn't there could be a gap like this, and the track sync would drift farther as the song progresses.

3. If #1 and #2 aren't an issue, you could try a file open of the WAV file in your DAW to see if the same issue occurs, and then try another DAW, and even post a link to the RealTracks. WAV file here.

Have Fun!

Like Peter Gannon, I was going to ask if the tempo was set the same in both BIAB and FLStudio.

Or, was the RealTrack you selected a rhythm RT or a soloist RG, since soloists don't necessarily start on the beat?

1) I did not drop it to the beginning of the track as in FLstudio when you drop a wave file into the playlist it sets it as an audio clip, so it probably wouldn't matter, but that is one option I could try.

2) yes the tempo match between biab and FLstudio both set at 100 I will update this post and let you folks know which exact style I was using, I started with a country midi style just piano and guitar tempo 100
added the chords, then saved that as a song. copied the midis over to flstudio playlist. then I changed the midi to real tracks (best real tracks for style), same tempo, same chords, then generated the real tracks, and imported them into the playlist as audio clips. all the real tracks had the exact same lead in time and that little extra space. I still have some options as I probably could use Edison to remove that extra spacing, but I don't use that editing tool often. I do own Sonar DAW and could do the editing work there, and re import into fl but that seems like a lot of extra work. the other option I guess I could use is generate the real tracks in real band, then see if the same happens..... I could show you in pictures if I could figure out how you folks are getting pictures on here ...are you using snagit or some other screen capture program?

Hi, Bostonx -

I use SnagIt for my screen captures. And now, if you use the "Full Reply Screen" (rather than the "Quick Reply Screen" on the forum, you can attach the screen images with captions directly to the bottom of your message. So you no longer have to post the pictures on a web site somewhere and link to it there.

That way you can easily attach JPG or PNG image files.

Peter Gannon to the rescue!! and I haved a little egg on my face... it was indeed a difference in tempo between biab and flstudio,... I thought I had both at tempo 100 but biab was 100 and fl was 117 a valuable lesson learned none the less..... it was funny, i was playing around with editing, and I was like eh give it a try take down the tempo.. As I was dropping down the tempo in fl you could actually see the space in the audio clip shrinking on the playlist......
