I enjoy using the feature for coloring notes in the notation window in BIAB. You can set up each note to have a different color for quicker visual recognition when sight reading.
I have found that this feature only works on the bass track, the melody track, and the soloist track. However, it doesn't appear to work on any other tracks.
Is there a reason for this? Is this a bug?
Just as an example, here are a few tracks I generated in a MIDI style.
The bass track. Color-coding works.
The piano track. Color-coding is enabled in the menu, but the notation window doesn't display it.
Here are the notation settings for reference. Note that Note Colors are enabled in "Absolute" mode:
I'm guessing this is just a simple bug, so I'd like to submit it to the attention of the development team. Is there a place that is more appropriate for that than this forum?
I've never used colors in this way, but assuming you are correct, then the Wishlist is probably a better place for this very thorough report. You can also just send it to support@pgmusic.com and reference this thread.
BIAB 2025 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 7 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Roland Integra-7, Presonus 192 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.
I'm using this technique of color coding to help some of my beginner students who are just starting to learn how to read music. It goes along with some software I'm developing to show notes on the guitar fretboard in a color-coded way so that the student can see how the same notes can be played in multiple positions on the guitar. Here's an example (it's still early in development and there are some bugs with the color coding, and the top string isn't working correctly... but you get the idea):
