oh wow. I don't use the function of setting number of verses to repeat etc because i have Bridges and altered endings so I just repeat all the bars out in linear order for the whole song in BIAB. I was just listening to a simple new file i created where I hadnt turned off the number of Choruses function (ie made it 0) and the second time it played (for repeat for second verse) the style changed slighty... which was totally appopriate for the song template ie first verse started with minimal instruments then second verse it brought in another instrument. Now im pretty annoyed because I want to use this functionality build in to the templates but cant use it because I have to type 0 chorus and write all the verses/choruses/bridge etc as explained. DOES ANYONE KNOW A WORK AROUND FOR THIS?
(The style was _80PBELL.STY: 80sMed.Pop w.BellPadSynth)

"bars out in linear order"
Try Edit > Song Form > Unfold (convert to 1 BIG chorus)

If it played something different for the 2nd chorus, then look at song settings. There should be a check box called "Vary style in middle choruses. This causes the style to select the "B" substyle on the middle choruses. Also, I didn't understand setting number of choruses to zero. It should be at least "one". The Windows version doesn't give you the choice of zero. Maybe the Mac version does; however, in BIAB, zero is usually used to say there is no change, which would put you back to the default of three choruses. If that box is checked, then the middle chorus would definitely sound differently.

thanks I didn't know about middle choruses and had a look around and couldnt understand the zero reference either. i just chose 1 and lay it all out in linear form. i'll check out the middle chorus option as i didnt know it existed. but now i know it does i wish i knew how to write a bridge in without saying theres only 1 chorus. perhaps if i learned how to use the song form functionality??
If i chose ABABCD for example and made the C the bridge and D the alterated final chorus. but then unless i chose more than 1 chorus in the settings wont that mean i still cant access the middle chorus functionality?

If you want the C and D sections to sound differently from the A and B sections, then you'll have to use a style that supports multi-styles. Otherwise, you'll have to change styles where the C section starts.

Anyway, for an ABABCD song, just set the starting bar at the beginning of "A" and the ending bar at the end of "B". Then set the number of choruses to two.

Then set the song tag ending feature to go to the beginning of "C" after the last bar of "B".

So your song layout will be:

A: \___ A, then B will play, then jump back and play A and B again
B: /
C: After B plays the second time, C will play
D: After C plays, D will play

to the end of the song.

Hope that helps.
