So I loaded the ozone 6 trial -- and I imported a song. Now I just want to run through the presets ... and I don't see anywhere to set the presets. Either for the whole tune or the individual modules. It seems like that would be right upfront. OK, it is supposed to be easily available, but if I close the preset window after startup there is no way to get it back. It is not present anywhere and ctrl-P doesn't bring it up. Plus I can't even resize the ozone window! I've tried 32-bit and 64-bit ozone. I am not sure if my windows 7 laptop has the horsepower to run ozone (although it does seem a bit smoother if I turn off the wi-fi and virus stuff). Oh well, nothing is ever easy!

Kevin, Firstly: I've just sent you a private message with links to wavs that I've created for "Her Weekend" after running the file through Ozone. In relation to your above image, there are aspects of Ozone that are not showing. Have you loaded it as a VST or is this standalone? Also what DAW do you use? The presets are found by clicking on the window I've highlighted below (#1). It's also possible to scroll through them using the arrows I've labelled #2. Regards, Noel

I found out that "P" brings up the overall preset manager and each tool has its own preset that I can get to. If you notice, the bottom of my screen does not show what is in the bottom of your picture (I stop at the plugin row of pictures) and I can't scroll down or maximize the window!! I'll have to investigate that.
I am downloading your samples now! Thanks!!!

In case this is useful information...
I have Ozone (VST) loaded as an FX on the master volume in Reaper. This means the mixed sound goes through it before it gets to the speakers.

a thought... have you tried dragging the edges of window in?
I've had a couple of programs that wouldn't load properly and refused to engage scroll bars when loaded. When I dragged the right edge of the window in (making the window smaller), though, a bottom scroll bar was created. I managed to obtain a side scroll bar by dragging the bottom of the window up.

Is it possibly a limitation of the trial version?

Is it possibly a limitation of the trial version? Exactly what I was going to say. Thanks Matt.

That would be an odd limitation to program in (ha, ha). I looked around and I saw this being seen in a purchased version also. By the way, Here are the first ~15 seconds of three ozone examples and my original put back to back. I mixed up the order so I could only tell which was which by looking at the sonar file. This is Her Weekend @ Dropbox (11mb, 1:07 long)

Kemmrich, I have the full version of Ozone 6 and did some window sizing checks for you.
As stand-alone app there was no ability to resize the window.
When I launched it as a VST from Adobe Audition, I could resize the main window but the contents within the window did not change size.
I feel the quality of the sound is very good. The minor "Windows" issues don't seem to be a big deal after using it a while.
I was using it to master some old VHS cassette live band recordings.
I used this preset a lot with good results: Heavy-->Thick Midrange. I received complements for bringing out guitars on the recordings, ie Midrange, LOL.

I can see the whole screen as a plugin, so that's good for the trial.
However, the standalone mode seems like the way I would want to do a whole album. Just plop all tracks in their and switch back and forth to get everything coherent.
No big deal for now. I'll have to wait for that new computer for the standalone mode!
For the next week or so, I will try and ozone 3 tunes and set up an A-B test between my originals and the new ozone tracks. Of course, there is the very high possibility that my ozoned tracks won't be the best they can be due to my inexperience with the tool.

"Ozone 7 is coming! We are putting the finishing touches on Ozone 7 and Ozone 7 Advanced. Purchase either version of Ozone 6 today and when Ozone 7 is released in November we'll send you a free upgrade."

I did an ozone test -- doesn't sound too different to me (ha, ha). It is going to take awhile to get the hang of it!

Was it actually "in the song"? The 2 versions actually sounded pretty similar to me as well. Of course, it could have been a subtle preset or it might not have been in the mix.... I didn't take the time to copy both versions and compare closely. There sounds like a very slight difference.... ozoned being slightly warmer.
I place Ozone in the master buss of my DAW. With a simple click I can turn it on and off to A/B the mix with and without it.
Some of the custom presets I have.... oh heck yes.... you know when those things are on. It's like the difference between black and white and color.....

Yes, Ozone 7 is coming. Having Dynamic EQ moved to the standard version is tempting. However, I've used Ozone for ten years and I prefer Ozone 5 over 6. From comments in the Cakewalk forums (SONAR), it seems I'm not alone.
How does this observation relate to this thread? The main difference in version 6 was an over-reliance on presets. I'll be watching closely to see what the interface looks like in 7.

Was it actually "in the song"? The 2 versions actually sounded pretty similar to me as well. Of course, it could have been a subtle preset or it might not have been in the mix.... I think so (ha, ha). I removed all the wave plugins from the master buss and exported the wav file. I then created a new project, brought in that wav file and then loaded up ozone and started tinkering. It is not surprising that my first try didn't make much of a difference -- the wav plugins should be pretty decent. (Although I did notice that if I just lower the volume on my waves version, it is not that much different than the raw mix). Some of the custom presets I have.... oh heck yes.... you know when those things are on. It's like the difference between black and white and color..... Can you export custom presets and then share them with other ozone users? I see that they have mastering presets by Greg Calbi that they are giving away.

Did another try of Weekend starting with one of Greg Calbi's presets. I must say that I am not getting "wowed" by the sounds or "differences" in sounds that I ma getting so far, but I am just going to chalk that up to inexperience with Ozone. ... and I am probably (subconsciously) striving for the waves sound I am getting now (ha, ha)!
I think I'll move on to another song.
