Hello all. How does one delete or disable the automation on the tracks? Not just the nodes, but all of it. Been through the help files, but no help. Thanks.

You can Cut these events by using Edit-Cut and paying close attention to what you are cutting.

There is a check box along the way for cutting only these (Node) events.
They are CC7 (rarely but possibly CC11) that need to be cut.
In recent versions you can also Right-Click in the Nodes (automation) area of the Track display and choose Clean Up Nodes, or Remove Nodes..

If you feel more comfortable knowing exactly which CC's you are cutting you can enable the Data Filter which allows being very selective on what you are going to edit, even allowing a secondary filter..

If you want to preserve the original automated mix, use Save As ..

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Thanks, rharv for the reply. To be more specific, I would like to remove all the automation, as I am trying to record a midi track with my midi controller and a vsti. The problem is the volume on the vsti keeps being set to zero by the unwanted automation on the midi track. Erasing the nodes does not stop the automation effect. Thanks again!!

This doesn't sound like automation it sounds like a volume CC embedded in the midi file itself. Is this a new midi file you created from scratch or is this a downloaded midi file you are modifying? If this is a preexisting midi file then you need to strip out those CC commands.

When you d/l freebie midis from the internet you can find all kinds of weird crap in them.

In this case I'd look at the Event Editor and find the CC7 or CC11 that was most likely causing this. It is likely on the same MIDI channel as your new recorded MIDI.

Thanks, Guys for the replies. This is a midi track that I recorded myself, not an import. There were a couple of midi events in the event view, I deleted them, but the same behavior persists. I recorded another track, and it does the same thing. I would really like to be able to disable automation while I'm adding parts to a song, but I guess I can work around this problem. Just seems that there ought to be a way to remove automation in a program this sophisticated, but the blue line is on every track. Thanks again, Milt.

Interestingly, information about track automation and nodes are not contained in the RealBand user manual.
