I'm upgrading from 2015 to 2016 version. BIAB 2015 is installed on its own solid state drive (G). Does the upgrade process use any of the 2015 version files or can the 2015 version be removed and the 2016 upgrade installed on a cleaned and formatted SSD? Do I need to leave the 2015 version intact to run the 2016 upgrade?

When upgrading from a previous version, you will need to keep the old version on your system. Certain files will be overwritten by the new version and additional content (such as RTs) will be added to your system.

Right; many files will be overwritten but also new ones added. Space on the drive will be a consideration. In another thread, JFord roughly calculated it will require 8GB more space for the regular (not audiophile) version.
BIAB 2025 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 7 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Roland Integra-7, Presonus 192 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.

Thanks Mike and Matt. There are files such as tutorials and other stuff that I don't think are necessary to run the BIAB program. I don't know what will happen to these unnecessary files during the upgrade process. Since space is, at least for the near future, a premium on the smaller SSDs I'd like to manually remove some of them if they won't be deleted during the upgrade process. Of course I don't want to fubar anything if the upgrade needs a fully installed program to upgrade. Wondering if it would be safe or prudent to remove some of the extraneous stuff.

I don't see any harm in removing items that are readily available to view on the3 Internet.

Before you upgrade, go to Opt. > What Add-ons do I have and check what's listed.
After the upgrade, check this again (Options > What Add-ons do I have)
You'll soon know if there are missing files.

Ran the upgrade before I saw your post VideoTrack. Everything seems to be working normally so far and the size on disk only increased by about 1 GB. All went smoothly and quickly and I've got 2016 installed.
