Hello folks, Being a newbie to the concept of recording songs I transposed in to BIAB, I have a question. I would like to make a WAV recording of the attached song, but I don't want to record the banjo (melody) track. I thought I could achiebve this by simply muting ( the M button) the track during the recording. It didn't work. The banjo track recorded anyway. Any ideas as to how I can record all the tracks, except the banjo, will be appreciated. The banjo track is the melody line. I want to be able to share the song with others who do not have BIAB. They then can play the melody on their own instrument with the WAV file as backup. Thanks for your advice, remembering that I am a novice at this. Larry Here is my DropBox link for the song: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3t1lw758j4w1l45/La%20Paloma%20tango.Cuban%20quintet%20melody.2.MGX?dl=0

Larry, I take it that you have a banjo accompaniment or soloist Realtrack on the Melody track. If so, using the M button was correct. What you want to do next is to Render the backing to a wav file. This will save everything in a single audio file (minus the banjo). The easiest way to do this is under the File menu and export (or maybe Save As) wav.... I'm not at my computer at the moment so I'm guessing a bit. Hope this helps, Noel

Hi Larry,
Using the 2015 version of Band-in-a-Box (BiaB) the steps are as Noel96 mentioned.
Press the "M" button on the melody track mixer to mute the banjo melody then press the play button to make sure the banjo instrument is not heard. If it is, did you test a banjo instrument sound on any track other than the melody track? If so try muting that track. It may be that the banjo sound is still on that track even though you removed the banjo instrument.
Once you have the song project sounding the way you want then go to:
"File" > "Export song as .wav" or "Export Song as Audio (wav,wma,mp3,mp4,mp4a)..." > "Export as .wav"

Hello Noel, After rendering my song and saving it as the WAV file I realized that I have another complication. I know it is due to my naivete at using BIAB 2016, but I am stuck. If you ever have the time to look over my DropBox file you will see that my song has both the bass clef line and treble lines. These are both being played on the banjo melody track. I would like to be able to separate the bass line from the melody line. I know I have the bass line being played on both the treble and bass clefs. That is my mistake. Do I need to renotate the entire song to make it in to two separate tracks? I know the backup band has its own bass line, but I would like to include my own bass line also. I like the rhythmic beat it gives the song. Once I have those two parts of the banjo track separated, then I can save the WAV file and have others play along with it. This complication is only due to my inexperience in using the program so any guidance you can offer is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Go to the MIDI track and Cut unwanted notes, then Save As (?) If all the notes are on the same MIDI track don't let the notation Bass/Treble clef thing confuse you; they are all on the same track.
The Data Filter check box in the Cut filter may be your friend here..
