Some of the RealTrack demo songs are great. I use them for templates for my work - but some demos are really horrific when it comes to the instruments being in sync. For example, on some songs the guitars are behind in the tempo. I notice this especially with the hard rock or distortion guitar mostly - AND - when applying the Pedal Steel and resonator. AND, (of course) some instruments just playing the wrong notes over chord changes.MY SOLUTION has been to render the tracks individually as .wav or .aiff and bring them into ProTools and then slide things around till the beats match. And, just muting sections where the instrument goes off key to the track. In this case I will do many renders and then just stack them on top of each other in a ProTools session and mute till one of the tracks plays the correct notes. NOTE: I am using BIAB 2010.5 - maybe these problems are not as bad on BIAB 2015).
I DON'T THINK IT'S MY COMPUTER. I am running a brand new Retina MacBook Pro with the i7 Quad core processor. ALSO, I am running the BIAB program only on the rMPB (and it has a solid state drive - not a spinning hard drive). I am accessing a remote hard-drive where the audio files live - and it's a 7200RPM drive. So, the problem has to be with BIAB.
I am sure many of you experience the same problems. How have you chosen to get around it?
And, why, after all these years does BIAB still have this problem? BIAB is so close now to being a SERIOUS program for real work - PG has to solve this last issue. I have been a BIAB user for more than 15 years - - - not new to these issues.
AS AN EXAMPLE - RealTracks set #43 is just a horrific mess - sounds lie a Junior High School Rock Band practicing for the first time. PG Music should go back and fix these older ones, or, throw them away. RealTrack sets like this are an embarrassment to a company that is now verging on being great.

Kevin,

It sounds like something strange is happening. I've been using Realtracks since they were first invented and they have always worked properly from a timing perspective.

Every once in a while, I have had a strange chord generated. Regenerating usually fixes it. I have also sometimes taken the track to a DAW and copy and pasted the same chord from a different section over the unusual one.

When a chord is generated unusually, I always render the file in a compressed format and send it and the SGU/MGU file to PG Music so they can hear it and apply a fix. When sending the audio file, I always tell them at what time the anomalous event happens (e.g. 2:33, etc).

I'm just thinking aloud here... If you play Realtracks at tempos that are too far removed from the tempos they were designed to be played at, some strange artifacts can sometimes be introduced. It's not this that is happening is it?

Regards,
Noel

Thanks, Noel. I have been with BIAB since 2004 - in the days when they sent out fully bound color manual along with the software - the last one they sent was 270 pages!
Sometimes I my be pushing the tempo limit on RealTracks - though PG make a big flexibility improvement with 2010.

Before I comment any more about what I wrote I think it is only fair that I update to BIAB2015 (or wait till June for 2016).

I am happy to know I can send audio captures to PG for analysis. That could be a big help in diagnosing some of my problems.

Kevin,

With BIAB 2015, there's no need to prepare audio captures of wrong chords. I wrote that simply because you had ver. 2010. With 2015, simply 'freeze' all tracks of the SGU/MGU file, save it with a new name and send the frozen file to support@pgmusic.com with a note to tell them which are the problem bars. When Support tests the file, because it is frozen, it will load exactly the same as it was created by you - erroneous chords and all.

With timing issues, I suspect that it would still be beneficial to send PG Music an audio clip.

You'll enjoy 2015! There have been considerable changes and additions since 2010.

All the best,
Noel

I can confirm the timing issues, not only in the realtrack-demos. There are a lot of styles, in which one realtrack is out of sync. I have transferred the audio-tracks to a DAW and had to use a predelay of about 50msec to get these tracks in sync with the other tracks. IMO it is a bug, which has to be fixed.
I use the latest version of BiaB 2015.

Thanks again!
I would like to buy now but I think I will hold out for June's 2016 release. I was tempted to buy Parallels for Mac so could run the Window's 2016 version now but that is an extra $80 and I am betting I would have problems. Running a bridge interface would probably make troubleshooting more difficult.

Noel96 - Yes - this is what I believe has been happening to me for years. I have found I can often do a visual line up of tracks when I bring them into ProTools. Sometimes it is supeg-obvious - like when I put the bass track under the drum track. It's very simple to see where waveforms start to go awry.

ALSO - I looked at your song "Can You Imagine." It is very good. But I saw something on your BIAB display I have never seen before - - - you have long grey rectangle sections that go through your beat measures and when you show them the song skips over the areyed out areas and goes to another beat bar. Is this a feature that was introduced after BIAB2015? I don't even think I have seen this done in the RTracks demos.

I inquired about the grey sections recently and was told that it was only in the Windows version of BIAB.
True??

Bet it is because I have never seen in on the Mac versions. Were it not for songs posted here by PC users I would not know it exists. PG should try to do this thing for the Mac version.

Hi Kevin,

What you saw was an option to begin each section on a new line. The grey areas are nothing. They simply mark the end of one of the sections and the next section starts immediately on the line below.

Regards,
Noel
