The Standard Midi Dxi Coyote disappeared from my Band in the Box 2016 installation. It worked everything fine after the first installations I made. (I installed the main update, then Update 427, 428 and went then back according the advice here in the forum to 427. I work with 32 Bit under Windows 10).
What I changed or made, I do not know. But today the Midi via Dxi was gone and I found in the Midi Driver formular that Coyote is not anymore there as default Dxi. I reinstalled then with the command in the help section Coyote and it is installed in the program directory under the directory name Coyote (Realband uses it still). I tried to scan for Dxi in the Option Menu of the Midi Driver menue, it did not find any. Then I looked in the Dxi .ini files in BB: it says none installed and also the factory default files in the DXi settings directory (.tgs) show no hint to Coyote).
As emergency operation I made a factory reset of the preferences and reinstalled the whole BIAB 2016 and update 427 from scratch. Same effect. It shows still a window saying "You have no Dxi installed... etc. use the command in the help menue, etc.".
The Realband installation on the same computer and harddisc is still working with Coyote.
I have no Idea what happened and how I can go back to a functioning system with Midi & Dxi.
From what Wolfgang said sounds like he is NOT talking about the paid for Coyote Forte DXI just the free Coyote WT (that's the only thing in the "C:\Program Files (X86)\Coyote" folder. Forte installs elsewhere (actually it installs where you tell it to)
I might be wrong - although which ever DXi it is - it seems to WORK with RB but NOT BIAB on same machine ???
Wolfgang
This might be a Win 10 issue (I'm using Win 7 right now) but since it works in RB and NOT BIAB not sure what to say ???
1. Do you have a file called:
"SetupCoyoteWT12.exe" in your x:\BB directory? If so run it AS ADMINISTRATOR
Then see if it works (maybe do a computer restart after install. Yes, you should NOT need to do a restart but it cannot hurt)
2. Look for the following file in the x:\BB directory\
"DXiPluginList.ini"
See if CoyoteWT={96813C9E-EA9D-4953-B47D-74C38227D10C} is listed or not (although I think you indicated it IS NOT listed in that file already, if I read your post correctly) .
If not then BIAB doesn't think it is installed (but you said RB DOES see CoyoteWT and can use it so???)
3. If CoyoteWT is not in that file try doing a "rescan" (but again I think you alluded or indicated you tried that as well?)
4. Are you running BIAB and RB form the SAME hard disk (just different directories/folders?). Are you running RB AND BIAB with ADMIN privileges?
HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP - Good Luck! Larry

But it didn't help, so I decided to make a totally new installation from scratch deleting the BB and Realband directory on C: and copying the (2012) Biab-Harddisk which I updatet every Xmas with the new Biab to the C: disk.Than I installed the 2016 update over it and....
Just in case this happens again, or happens to someone else, check your Band-in-a-Box directory (eg. usually this is "C:\bb") for a file called "MaxPluginsToScan.txt". If you find it, delete it (or rename it to something like "_MaxPluginsToScan.txt") and then reopen Band-in-a-Box.
I had the effect that Coyote DXi disappeared the second time, but Blakes advise was helping perfectly. So its an easy fix. But does anybody has an idea what's the reason for the disappearing?
