I created my first "song" with audio guitar last week and successfully exported/imported the tracks into Reaper.

Tonight, I fired up BIAB and loaded only menu selections of demos for songs/styles.

But when I hit Play, I hear Marimba/Vibraphone sounding instruments instead of the loaded instruments for many of the tracks.

I rebooted the entire studio without a change.

Win10-64 / RME ASIO 48k

I assume it is something at my end, as this was only the second time I played with BIAB.

Thankful for any suggestions...

Hi gwp,

Here are some steps that I'd try to get things running.

1. Install update 429 if it has not yet been installed. To check if it's installed, have a look under the Help menu then "About Band In A Box". The update will be in brackets after the version number.

The update can be downloaded and manually installed from the following link. Once the file is downloaded, simply double-click on it, check that the paths are correct, and install. (BIAB needs to be closed to install updates.)

http://www.pgmusic.com/support_windowsupdates.htm

Once the update is installed, it might take a minute or so to start BIAB. This usually happens as the program goes through the updating process once it's booted up.

If this doesn't help...

2. Set BIAB's audio driver to MME rather than ASIO. This is always the preferred driver when trying to solve issues as it's native to Windows. This is found under "Opt | Preferences | Audio".

3. Close and re-start BIAB.

If there is still no joy...

4. Try a reset to factory settings. This is found under the Options menu on the top menu bar. Choose the top option as this will keep your sound driver setup intact.

5. Restart BIAB and see what happens.

Let us know how you go.

Regards,
Noel

Thanks Noel for the reply.

No joy after trying all 5 steps.... even the default "C" song is affected.

However, in StylePicker, choosing "Quick - play using premade demo (not chords of song)" plays fine... but "Play Using Current Chordsheet for song" plays with the sample problem.

gwp99,

I don't think it is related to your issue but you may want to adjust your RME driver for a sample rate of 44.1khz instead of the present setting of 48khz.

BiaB uses a sample rate of 44.1khz and a bit depth of 16 bits. Use any other settings and BiaB automatically converts the audio adding extra steps and increasing the potential for issues to come up.

By the way, welcome to the forum!

gwp,

Under the File menu, click on "New" and then type in a handful of chords. Generate the song. Does the problem persist?

Noel

Thank you all for your replies.

I decided to uninstall BIAB and am now running from the external usb drive of BIAB, with all the updates and addons and all is running as it should.

I really wanted to reduce the installation of 16G of HDD from my system drive used by BIAB - mainly for my system imaging footprint.

And I'll start using 44.1khz as well.
