Hello,
I want to use BIAB tunes I've constructed for commercial teaching materials (EFL-ESL chants, for example). Am I correct in my assumption that video screenshots of the chords, notation and so forth are not copyright or trademark violations?

Jon,
That's correct. Your original creations belong to you. PG Music gives users tools (such as video creation, song creation etc.). If you have a legitimate copy of BIAB, these tools are there to be used without any restriction by PG Music.

Hello J. We are just fellow users here so any answer we give will be worth what you paid us for it.
I am a retired academic dean. I can tell you that I have never seen your question before in over twenty years on the forum. As you are intending to print COMMERCIAL teaching materials, I would think that you and your publisher would be wise to obtain all possible permissions to be safe. In other words, write to PG Music and ask them.
EDIT: Noel is absolutely right about the music. I only worry about using the screen shots in a commercial product, and how proprietary PG Music might consider those screen shots to be. PG Music may be quite happy to give permission for publicity purposes, or require conditions such as a product mention, but you should ask.

Matt, To add to what you've said... Maybe it would be good if PG Music could clarify this. My thought was based on the fact that in recent editions of the program, it's possible to create a video of a song playing through the chord sheet. I've used this a couple of times and posted the result. Callie from PG Music even shortlisted the below song of mine using the Vimeo link. https://vimeo.com/142767138Since such a video is a continual series of screenshots, I thought it would be ok. That being said, I could be assuming incorrectly. Regards, Noel

I'm not familiar with Vimeo, but I'm guessing you aren't making money from direct sales of your video on it. I think the key determinant here is that J is producing COMMERCIAL materials. Even if he/she isn't concerned, his/her publisher will be.
