ROG lives in this area, near York and has a stream close by his house. Don't know exactly where but I hope his house etc is safe. I have been flooded, my business, but the waters subsided quickly; that was bad enough but I cannot imagine the horror of standing water in your home. We missed the worst down where I live, South Wales but our rivers have over-flowed their banks and any floods are axle-deep on the cars. let's hope ROG is OK Alyn

I know flooding, being originally from Passau, Germany. Fortunately, my family lives elevated enough and is save from any flood there. The flood in the UK right now is so unexpected that residents didn't have the time to even start to prepare.
One tip to all affected: Once the mud dries, it will be as solid as concrete. Get it out of your home as long as it has not started to dry.
I hope all the people there can cope with the situation -- and get their valuables above water level.

I've been thinking of ROG too. Some parts of UK completely unaffected by these bizarre weather events and some, like in ROG's area, are in a Disaster situation . let's hope he is in the former location. Ian

ROG -
You are in our prayers. The people who survived the Baedecker Raids will, no doubt, survive this.
Stay frosty.
Regards,
Bob

ROG,
Hayley Oliver also lives in York. I had wanted you to meet her but not in kayaks!
The local streams are swollen too and we are having torrential rains. Not unusual for us though.
Keep dry, my friend. You are in my prayers.
Donny
My exchange with Hayley moments ago:
Hayley, we in the Colonies are watching the flooding in York and praying that you and all of our British friends are safe. May I assure our musician friends that you're safe and dry?
Thank you Donald, that is kind of you. the floods are up north, we are south, so they are nowhere near us thankfully, but I feel so sorry for those affected, so sad for them.
I'll tell your friends that you are safe, little one. Thanks.

Yeah, crazy El Nino weather we've had in the States. It's supposed to resume to more of a normal winter in the next week.
We've had pretty much a week straight of rain here in the St. Louis area. Been getting some leaking to the basement studio here. Just making sure I get everything off the floor.

May God bless ROG and others in the UK. I live in a flood zone here in Deville Louisiana. I live on a place called Big Island. Back several years ago the back waters would come up and where I live became an atoll. Thankfully the state did some waterway construction and the back waters are a thing of the past. If we get heavy rains the water will back up. But nothing like it used to. I haven't seen the atoll appear since the water way construction. Sadly there are areas here that still get flooded. Many people have built their homes on piers for this. Others haven't. Thankfully we have a pretty good help system for in case this happens. And, thankfully, I don't have to depend on my boat to get me off the island.

Hey Guys!
Just checking in to say that ALL's WELL. The only thing which has overwhelmed us this time is the concern and good wishes from our forum friends. Many thanks to you all.
We live a few miles out of York and the river which flows to the rear of our house has a slightly different catchment area to the river which flows through York itself and this has made all the difference. Although we had 48 hours of heavy rain and the river over-topped it's banks in places, we've stayed safe this time. In the big flood of 2000, the water completely surrounded our house, but we escaped by some good fortune.
Just waiting, now, for the storm force winds which are forecast for Wednesday! I believe they're destined to hit the west of the UK worse than us, so I hope Alyn and Ian stay safe. Keep us up to speed, lads.
Thanks again for all the good wishes.
ROG.
