Have a SEQ file containing several wave tracks, how do I generate an MP3 file?

I just tried it and didn't find a direct solution.

If you can, I mean if you have the software, save it as a wav file and compress it to mp3 using Audacity, Adobe Audition, GoldWave...

Render - Merge Audio and DXi to compressed file

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Yes, but that didn't work when I tried it.

O.K. I looked deeper into that process. It is not intuitive.

"Render - Merge Audio and DXi to compressed file" doesn't give me the option to save as mp3. If I continue and say "save" I do get a dialog box that lets me select the format.

In my case on my laptop it doesn't work since I seem not to have the necessary codec for mp3 files.

RB merges everything to a temporary stereo wave file first, then asks what format you want to convert it to.
What I don't like is (at least here) if the wav file didn't already exist, RB leaves a blank empty wav file on the drive after doing the conversion.
It doesn't do this when using the Convert to WMA routine in the same drop down.

I have the same problem.

I cannot save my SEQ file as a wave or MP3. The program just crashes. I have tried all the suggestions.

I am trying to make an AVI file using this MP3 with images but at the moment I am completely stuck.

You can't Save As, you have to use Render for wav or mp3

LameDrop is a real handy tool http://www.rarewares.org/mp3-lamedrop.php

it is just a floating icon you drag the wav on and it encodes to mp3 to the same folder
just right click on it for settings

First, you load the SEQ file into RB and EXPORT it as a wave. I do this from my DAW Sonar. I never have a finished song coming out of either BB or RB. I do export the tracks from RB as waves and there are options in the render/export box to export just a track ...as I do... or to export the entire project as a finished/mixed track (what you hear)..... to be 100% sure I would need to look in the program to see exactly how it's done. But essentially, you are exporting the project as a finished wave.

I then open that wave in my wave editor called WAVEPAD. It's free on the NCH website.

In the wave editor I trim the starting count-in and the ending silence..... then I use the CONVERT function in it to save the file as an MP3 at the resolution I need.

That leaves me with the original wave and the MP3.

I think I have solved my problem.

I first merge all my wave tracks to one track using "Edit - Track - Merge".

I then export this single track using "Render - Export Highlighted Section(or entire track)" as a wave file. Although it specifies MP3 that didn't work when I tried it.

I then use a stand alone prog to convert the file to MP3.

Hope this might help others.

What I don't understand is why PGMusic doesn't just switch to using and external CODEC, as many others do. Sure, you might have to download LAME, for example, separately and then point BIAB/RB to it, but all the program has to do is send the proper parameters to create the MP3 file to either the DLL or the EXE, and voila, done.

Using the internal Windows MP3 capability, which is extremely limited unless you have unlocked it (although, I don't know if you can still buy the Fraunhofer unlock key anymore), or have installed another CODEC via ACM installer (LAME or K-Lite or something else), just seems to cause problems. Folks have been complaining about this as long as I can remember.

This would seem to me to be an easy fix.

I'm lazy. I take the path of least resistance so I render everything to WMA.

Here's the deal on that. WMA is just as common as MP3, everything plays WMA's just as well as MP3's AND from what I've read WMA can even sound better than MP3 anyway.

Conclusion, who cares about MP3's? I think the answer is the term "MP3" has become the generic term for a compressed audio file like Zerox is for copying regardless of who's copier you're using.

Bob, I'll respectfully disagree with you. Have you tried to play a wma file on an Android cell phone, almost any hardware based media player or an Android tablet? Even some software based media players will not play them if the Windows media player has been removed from the computer.

There are a lot of non computer devices that play MP3 files but will not recognize a wma file.
