Was the AudioDeluxe pricing a limited time only, as I am seeing this when I go to their site, which are the same prices Celemony is offering directly.

yes - like a lot of places now the discount isn't shown until item(s) placed in the cart (JRR Shop, NEWEGG, Sweetwater, etc.), and then go and look in in the cart
they want to get you one step closer to actually pulling trigger

Thanks for the explanation about creating the account first. I'll do that, as I'm all about saving a few bucks.

Just pulled the trigger to upgrade from Editor v2 to Studio v4 through AudioDeluxe (thanks Mario). When I looked at the Celemony WebSite, I didn't see a specific upgrade price from Editor v4 to Studio v4, so didn't want to run the risk of having to pay $149 againto do that as a later upgrade, should I choose. So splitting the price difference between the Editor and Studio prices using AudioDeluxe definitely seemed like the way to go.

Mario,
Thank you for passing on the information about AudioDeluxe. I ended up getting Melodyne Studio 4. It's an incredible bargain for top end software.
If anyone else uses AudioDeluxe... it took a couple of hours after paying for the serial number to come through. Once that happened, all that was needed was to go to Celemony, register the serial number as an upgrade and then download the program.
I'm not sure that I needed to do this but to be safe, prior to installing I deactivated my version 2 because Celemony only offer two activations. Once Studio 4 was installed, I then reactivated the program.
Regards, Noel

When you purchased Editor 2, it was the only flavor of Melodyne that had DNA. Studio did not, so if you wanted DNA then Editor was your only choice. Melodyne 4 Studio DOES have DNA so the major difference between Editor 4 and Studio 4 now is Studio's ability to handle more than one track at a time. If you only need one track, it will still do just one.

Keith, that's exactly why I went with Editor and not Studio at the time. Actually, I originally started with Assistant, but then there was a sale and I upgraded to Editor. And I just got my license code from AudioDeluxe. I'll get it registered this evening. Looking forward to playing with the new features.

hard to imagine there's now software that can almost let you take cookies and extract the chocolate chips from the flour and eggs. Guess I should upgrade too...
but there comes a point when I realize I've invested thousands of dollars in software and hardware that can never offer any ROI, except in terms of personal satisfaction.
I find myself wondering how much is enough.
But I'll probably upgrade anyway. Because once I have Melodyne 4.0... THEN I'll finally be happy.... ;-)
No, wait... once I have Melodyne 4.0 AND A NEW GUITAR... THEN I'll be happy...
No Wait.... once I have Melodyne 4.0, a new guitar and....

I only have had time to look at Studio 4 but I found that sound manipulation is a very strong point, at least for me. I took an acoustic guitar part, copied it and messed with the copy in Studio 4. I was able to change the acoustic sound to a bell like sound. I then played that track along with the guitar track. What a great sound that made. YMMV.

frim the site Instead of initializing the tempo, time signature and Time Grid values manually begin recording with the tempo and time signature fields empty. Now you no longer need a click to listen to as you record because Melodyne will detect the tempo and tempo fluctuations within the recording and adjust the grid lines and subsequent click accordingly. Instead of entering a numerical value for the tempo, in other words, you are determining the tempo through your performance.
This will result in any fluctuations in tempo within the performance being considered deliberate and the tempo being interpreted as variable. The value in the tempo field will therefore be constantly changing in the course of playback, and the mesh of the Time Grid will expand or contract accordingly (i.e. distance between grid lines will increase or decrease) as the tempo changes. The fact that the tempo is variable is indicated by the presence of a tilde (“~”) before the value in the tempo field.

The February edition of Sound on Sound just came out and the cover story is Melodyne 4. They have done a very detailed and LONG review. If this is not the longest review that I've ever seen in SOS it is very close.

Well.. it's been a while since this was posted, and figure by now people have had a chance to upgrade and give it a workout...
What's the general consensus? Money well spent? Is it as good as you hoped? Better?

Just upgraded today Pat. Also got in on Ozone 7 Advanced upgrade from 6 Normal both at Sweetwater. Since I'm dedicated to Sweetwater I missed out on $25 of savings at Audio Deluxe that Mario had provided above. Although this was all put on my Sweetwater card anyway (24 months interest-free).

What's the general consensus? Money well spent? Is it as good as you hoped? Better? It was money well spent here. I already mentioned the sound manipulation that I have done but for me the biggest benefit for me is the tempo extraction. It is extremely easy to extract a MIDI tempo track from an audio track. BobH and I played Knocking on Heaven's Door with no click track. Brought the wav into Melodyne, extracted the tempo track, loaded the MIDI tempo track into Sonar, brought the song wav into Sonar and everything lined up perfectly. Then I added drums and a few other patches. This should work in BiaB/RB also. In the summer BobH and I like to sit outside and just pick and grin. I have been recording a few of these song jams via my Tascam DR-05. If we wanted to record a song we would have to go into the house, set up the equipment and record with a click track. No more as now I can take the wav from the DR-05 and create a tempo click track from said wav. I huge time savings.
