When I export tracks in a song to individual WAV files, it sometimes appears in my DAW (Cakewalk Platinum) that in each stereo track the left and right volumes are somewhat different. I assume that is due to the default pan settings of the respective tracks when the song was created in BIAB. I am thinking about noting the song's BIAB pan settings (which are usually great, and which I modify when I add vocals and other new tracks in my DAW), then before exporting to individual track WAVs putting each track back to zero, then after importing the WAVs re-entering the noted pan settings in the DAW. Do others reset pans to zero before exporting track WAV files? Or am I wrong and that an individual track's pan setting in BIAB does not affect the left-right volume balance of the respective track's exported WAV? Thanks.

It is a very good idea to center the BIAB tracks before you export to wav.
The RTs that export as stereo tracks will, in fact, reflect the panning when exported. That can sometimes become a problem (like if you have something panned to one side and decide you would rather have it panned to the other.

Some RTs export as mono tracks - for those it does not matter - but still a good practice to center everything before exporting.

You also might consider removing the reverb that BIAB applies (set that to 0) - so that you can have control of that in your DAW as well...

Keep in mind that the panning in BIAB is based on -63 to 63 (L to R). If your DAW is based on 100 Left and 100 Right you need to adjust for that.

There is a setting somewhere in the menus (don't use it so I don't know where) that will set all the tracks to CENTER and all the reverbs to 0...

I'm sure there will be those who argue against this, but I also set the volumes to 127 (max) before exporting....

I do the same as floyd. I centre panning for all exported tracks. I also set reverb to zero so that I can add my own reverb in my DAW.

The option that floyd mentions for doing all this in a single click is to right-click on the "Master" track and select "Set mix to flat, dry center" from the options.

And that fixes a problem for me too. I've often wondered why I got weird balancing mixes when it contains say two identical tracks (say 2 - same RT strummed acoustic guits) but the L-R pan in my DAW sounded dreadful and out of whack. Now I know why! D'Oh!
Thanks guys.

Yes, don't like normalizing anything at export or anywhere for that matter.
I do similar but pull each individual track back out "of the red", so no clipping occurs during export.

Would be great to have a OPTION to get the WAV Export at certain settings (e.g. Pan = C, Volume = 127, Reverb = 0) and leave the song settings untouched

I just save a copy with FDC on the end of the filename.

I find that BB and RB both give me mono files for the most part and centered as the default. Drums and piano and B3 are almost always stereo. But they are still centered. I never pan anything in BB/RB. That ensures it stays centered and all panning is done in Sonar.

And that, is exactly what I want to import into Sonar.

Mono files are best because unless the sound source is truly stereo, it's a waste to use stereo on guitar or voice or sax or anything else that is at source, a mono instrument.

Here, even true stereo tracks are imported as separate L/R tracks .. allows a little more freedom on mixing them.. I can place a stereo piano (or chorused guitar or whatever)anywhere in the mix (say one side 90% right and the other 40%) .. it can make a big difference; it narrows the spread yet keeps some of the effect... not every song should be heard from a 'centered behind the piano' aspect. Sometimes I want the piano off on the left side of the sound stage, but hear more of the right channel, etc. So simply panning a stereo track is NOT the same as the available control over two mono tracks.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome
